Lo mein, cause I can usually get two meals out of it.

Peking ravioli and house special rice. Both things I'd never heard of until say a month ago.

Peking ravioli is pretty much like Dim Sum except it's in some sort of bread-like stuff. I peel off the bread and just eat the meat. House special rice is fried rice with shrimp, chicken, pork, beef and vegetables. Good stuff.

I avoid Chinese food at all costs.

Odd smell too...

Whatever happened to a good ol' fashion steak?

.

Meanwhile, I've speculated that Americans' "need" to enjoy their meals (particularly along the "need for variety" is contributing to the obese trend.

Moo Shoo Pork or Moo Shoo Chicken.

I'm also a big fan of "fried lice".

General Tsa'ah's chicken is good too.

How's it like dim sum...?

Dim sum as in "A little bit of heart?" Where they push around food on carts and you point and choose?

I like the General Tzo's as well (odd thing, I've seen like 70 different spellings for it before).

But hands down I'd go Orange Chicken. Mmmmmmmmmmmm.

No, Edaarin is right... dim sum is what they serve when they push around a cart in teahouses or restaurants and you get to pick & choose what you want from it. It's not any particular dish.

If any of you are in the Northern Virginia area...

I strongly recommend going to Fortune by 7 Corners (there's one in Herndon too I think) on the weekends sometime around noon for the dim sum. It can be sort of pricey ($15-$20 or so a person), but it's so worth it.

Hmm. This Chinese restaurant in Staten Island (where I'm from) served "Dim Sum" as an appetizer, closest thing I can describe it as is a meatball..seasoned with ginger.

I don't remember the name of the place, I'm trying to look for it now online. ;)

Oh, as far as good restaurents go... "A Single Pebble" in Burlington, VT has hands-down the best Chinese food I've ever had. They have lazy susans in the middle of all the tables so it's easy to share food, too.
...and now I'm getting hungry thinking about it. :(

I'm mis-trusting of most Chinese food from the restaurant because the Chicken always looks like it could have come from a cat or dog. If I do happen to have it with friends I stick to crab rangoon, and egg rolls. I prefer Thai food.

Sesame Chicken or Sweet & Sour Chicken from a local Mom & Pop restaurant.

Or...

Almost anything at PF Changs.

Thats why I will not eat food from those little hole-in-the-wall chineese places. I only buy from certain ones and almost all are nice sit down restaraunts.

Just be careful and ask around or write your local newspaper and ask the food critic for a good suggestion if you are ultra paranoid cause good chinese food is too good to avoid.:D

Pork egg foo yung
Sesame beef
House special chow fun
Wanton egg drop soup

The place nearest my house happens to have the best food in the area. That they deliver is a bonus.

General Tsao's Chicken

Lo Mein/ Beef, Chicken, Shrimp doesn't matter

Fried or Steamed pork dumplings - if you're in Manhattan, I recommend the Dumpling House in Chinatown.

Egg or Shrimp rolls. Never had spring rolls.

Personal favorite - Chicken wings and french fries. Woohoo!

One of my LCPLs is Vietnamese and whenever he went home his mom would make him all kinds of food to bring back. When she heard I loved the stuff she started making double batches. I wanted to hug him everytime he came back with her cooking.

Except for the time he brought me some beef jerky. I can't prove it but I think it was powdered deer penis.

Haha yeah Lalana and I had a discussion about dim sum a long time back, and I was pissed cause I wanted some but couldnt find it anywhere.

Anyway..maybe that would be the reason I couldn't find it up here! :spaz: The place in Staten Island advertised the stuff I mentioned as dim sum on the menu..so you asked for it, and you got those meatball things.

Have to go with Beef Chow Fun (dry style) with a hint of chili oil and a side of chili paste, and Mongolian Beef Chicago Style

All from the restaurant I work at,

And from this place in Chinatown, roast BBQ pork over rice with a fried egg with oyster sauce.

And when i was in San Fran i had scallion pancakes. Awesome.
