Do we have any classical music people on these boards? I've decided I'm going to do a certain type of music therapy, and I have a particular type in mind.
I'm looking for something positive, with a lot of strings involved. Heavy emphasis on the violin. Just nothing SAD. If anyone can help me out, I'd truly appreciate it!

Bolero of Ravel, heavily commerical still rock.
I adore Beetho, as Chopin and some of Mozard.
Don't tell anyone:saint:

I need song TITLES, not the composers. I already know those. :)

I'm all about classical.
My favorite song all time is Thais - Meditation, by Massenet. My brother and I played it for my sister at her wedding a few years ago. If you want it played on violin, I suggest Itzhak Perlman's performance of it. I like Gheorghe Zamfir's playing too, but it's on the pan flute.
Por Una Cabeza - it's a song for Tango, I love the violin part, it has a great lilt to it.
Theme from Schindler's list, performed by Itzhak Perlman and composed by John Williams. Absolutely beautiful.
EDIT: I guess the Schindler's list music is sort of sad. But I still strongly recommend it.

She was terrible...

Air on a G, performed by anyone, but if you're okay with it not being a violin find Yo Yo Ma's performance of it accompanied by Bobby McFerrin.
Wedding music, like Pachelbol Canon
Debussy's Clair de lune - most arrangements are for piano, but it's still absolutely enthralling.
Dance episodes from "Rodeo"
Paganini's 24th Caprice played by Jascha Heifetz

Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy comes to mind, if you're looking for something "happy". :)

I would suggest Mozart's Requiem, but apparently funeral masses aren't "happy" events. I love it, though, powerful piece.

I favor symphonies over pieces featuring single instruments but if you want violins then check out the various Mozart violin concertos. I can't recommend any of them but Mozart rules in general.
And yes, his requiem is fantastic.

You might always try Mozart's Marriage of Figaro, I suppose. Although I guess that's more of an opera piece.

If I remember right, Grieg's In the Hall of the Mountain King features quite a bit of strings.

Fantasia on a theme by Thomas Tallis by Ralph Vaughn Williams, it's beautiful. Also "The Lark Ascending", and "A Sea Symphony"

Damn you, Ilvane, I was about to say the Fantasia, that's a nifty piece, big on the strings.
There's also Pictures at an Exhibition. The chicken dance bit's strings and pretty lively. One of my pop's favorites. He does the Shostakovich orchestration.
Tupac- All eyes on me.
Classic :D
