##UPDATE: Confirmed! This is a fire flaring shield.

Power of a fire elemental. Is this natural of fireleaf items? Or does this mean the shield actually flares?

As you sing, you feel a faint resonating vibration from the fireleaf shield in your hand...
The harmonics generated tell you that the shield has been infused with the power of a fire elemental. *
The magical harmonics reveal that this is an item which serves as a shield when held in the left hand.
The shield resonates with your voice, indicating that it enhances its owner in the following ways: ***
It provides a bonus of 4 to Ambush Bonus. ***
This enhancement may not be used by adventurers who have not trained 6 times.
It provides a bonus of 6 to Strength. ***
This enhancement may not be used by adventurers who have not trained 17 times. ***
The shield looks to have a huge number of charges remaining.

You think that you could probably find out something more about the shield's enhancive properties if you tried.

inspect shield
You carefully inspect your fireleaf shield.

Your careful inspection of a carved fireleaf shield allows you to conclude that it is a medium shield that protects the bearer if carried in the left hand.

You determine that you could wear the shield, slinging it across your shoulders and back. The shield appears to serve some purpose.

It looks like this item has been mainly crafted out of fireleaf.

>assess shield
You assess the shield for structural weaknesses and strengths.

Careful examination indicates the fireleaf shield has a base strength of 60 and a base durability of 200. You also determine the current integrity of the fireleaf shield to be at 100.0%.

You heft the shield a few times, but learn nothing more about it.

I think I'll locker it for now. Feel free to PM me though, I'm open to offers.

You might get a million. I don't really see it going over that, unfortunately. 500k is more likely.

i look at it as a +22, fire flaring shield, that provides +6 to AS, and assists in ambushing.

I could see a little more than 1 mil myself, but perhaps I'm seeing the mechanics wrong.

Not to mention, something that really intrigues me about this shield is the amount of charges.

Do we have a chart that says based on charges, which one lasts longeR?

Trust me on the fact that there is a very small market for a medium shield, or any sort.

He's right, shields have taken a huge hit in the market as people have come to realize that, seemingly, the best defense is a better offense. Poles, THW, TWC, runestaves and archery have killed the shield demand.

A few years back, you'd have gotten a great deal more for it. By my figuring, they (Gemstone designers) need to actually find a way to bring back at least a percentage of the appeal in shields. Fusion greatshields may have helped a tiny bit. However, until they either block more or add even more DS there is little call for them.

not relevant to the conversation: Tombstone is an awesome fuckin movie. "I'll be your huckleberry... say when."

Ive sold about 5 or 6 fireleaf shields with flares now, most ranging about 300-500k.

With the enhancives on that one, Id ballpark it at about 650k-800k if you want to sell it.

It provides a bonus of 3 AS, not 6. It's a bonus of 6 to Strength Stat, which is +3 bonus.
