So over the winter I read this gem and was once again stunned by Branden Sanderson's world building abilities.

The way he etched out the history of the world through the characters was amazing. I generally like all of his work, but I think I have a new favorite book. Sorry Game of Thrones, you are a close second.

Anyone else read this?

What did you guys think?

I've been working through the massive audio book. I either like it or detest it at turns. You can definitely feel the Robert Jordan influence on him.

The writing and characters are engaging, but I find the overall plot and setting more than a little bizarre. Nonetheless, I'll look forward to the second one.

At first, I found the sections with the female protagonist a bit slow. Her character slightly annoyed me. But as the book advanced she became one of my favorites.

The setting is definitely unique, but I found that to be a draw rather than a turn off. Its presented beautifully, and thankfully Sanderson has proven to be a prolific writer in the past so, unlike Patrick Rothfuss and the Name of the Wind, I wont be waiting forever for the sequel

Sanderson's worlds are way too complicated. I don't like reading things I have to think to understand :(

Can't really tell you what I think, since I haven't read it, but...

...I'll have to look this author up on Amazon - I haven't heard of him. I'm always looking for new authors.. :)

He's writing the new Wheel of Time books.

In addition, his Mistborn Trilogy was amazing. It's what made me a fan.

Warbreaker is good if you want a one-off book without all those pesky sequels.

I still like Elantris best. This is certainly occupying though.
