Im deciding if I want to do Shattered or Prime. Shattered is fun, but I have a love/hate relationship with the scripting. Its far too easy to be lost in the scripting portion of the game...and at the end there I found myself scripting far more than playing.

Still, I like Shattered...Hmm! Choices choices! Im also pretty sure theres a lot of capped characters now that would make Mordechai die a lot :medieval:

Doubt anyone is going to kill you. It all depends on what you want to do. The scripting has been fun and there are quite a few scripts out since you have been here.

Chatting is always fun. Though I am skeptical about the interaction.

I dont mind, really if others script. Doesnt hurt me. What I guess I am saying is I dont want to script. Its too addicting. Some scripts are great (looting, skinning, etc) but I am looking through my lich script folder and I have scripts for EVERYTHING. I had to, cause if I didn't during the Marlu Wars then I'd die (I died anyway sometimes but I also sometimes put up a fight).

Im just scared I will start not playing the game because I can advance AND go do other things. Its a personal thing I guess.

What do I want to do? I would like to get back into the RP aspect of things mostly. I really miss the interaction with others, even on a conflict basis. Things, I think, spiraled into something that wasn't my intention...and people also took things WAY too personally. And while it was fun at times to goad certain folks into a blood boiling rage, it kinda got sad and a little scary when there rage didn't go away. I stopped finding there rage amusing when I realized they weren't playing, they were actually factually enraged. I started feeling bad for them. Like kicking a puppy that couldn't help itself, just not fun.

So after I got my computer working again and internet back, I didn't come back because I didn't want to deal with the drama issues..was more work than anything else. Plus, honestly, I had found other time wasters :)

But! I always remembered good old Gemstone and good old Shattered. So I kinda wanna come back and see how much higher Mr. Mordechai can get! Hes still my highest ever character and I think very well built :) Then again, I still have some Prime Guys that I could get into again too..

Mooch was the spy! heh interesting. Still, we got away with (and killed them) way too much for them having a spy in our midst. Oooh and they even had some script that could tell them where we are using out of game mechanics. Explains some things. But, I shall not open up old wounds.

I kinda figured Shattered would go bland once the war was over if Vanguard got there way. At least thats the vibe I'm getting from the forums and back threads. Though I gather there was some issues with a couple folks just going around killing all in sight? Sounds like they had more 'unleashing of the unrestrained havoc' then I ever did. Again, I could be wrong. Im just trying to piece meal together things from what I am reading.

Who all still plays? Not AFK, but actually like...plays. I just dont want to come back and level in silence. RP in Prime is fun, but Prime has issues too. Drat Im indecisive!

And I dont know, I think I had a very positive effect on the community. It gave people a reason to play, strive, organize, interact, level, etc. even if the reason was to see my complete and utter destruction. Good times :tumble: To be able to invoke such feelings and emotions in others that linger for months of absence of any contact is the mark of villany done to PERFECTION. <bows> Please, no need to thank me.

Maybe I will start a brand new character with a different schtick. With so many people capped though, its basically just Prime that you can script in. Soon as you play in a badwrong way, or RP in a way unacceptable to the self-anointed elite, they'll smack ya down.

The reason the Marlu thing worked was because everything was still in flux. Nothing is really in flux anymore. Sad.

I still do enjoy leveling. I will be playing Gemstone again. I just, as I said, am not sure which instance to come to. I have some Platinum characters even but who knows?

A script to tell them where we are using out of game mechanics? Seriously? The only thing we used for locating you was a script which had Bacons cast locate and report your location on our chat channel. A script that we copied from what was being used on the Marlu channel.

you have to remember that for this game to survive, we need some form of unity and forgiveness. the Marlu conflict, in my opinion, really developed a lot of friendships and unprecedented cooperation..

yes, some of you may feel you need revenge on him, but isn't the best revenge the failure of Marlu and the fact that Mordie is now way behind everyone? at some point he should get a clean slate. I think that starts now.

trust me, he annoyed me a lot and set me back considerably in the beginning. his griefing forced me to flee to RR, where I missed a lot of amazing opportunities to get uber items from GMs.

Yes, I laughed more at my screen than I ever had while we watched their chats roll across and made fun of them. That I will admit to. However, being forced to deviate from what I wanted to do in the game was not what I signed up for.

Well you can always play prime and when you get bored of the bowing, Ye thee and Thow, BS in prime, script when afk to level. Might as well have the best of both worlds.

However , to catch you up quickly. Scripting is pretty much the norm. SO doing something 'fun' from behind the scenes , if it involves killing people afk, cursing boxes or just being a major pain in the ass. Trust me it will not be accepted well.

But everyone is always looking for alot of fun, maybe your the one who can bring that in a positive way.

I was going to make a witty, snarky remark like:

But! I shall not engage in such slanderous, flame-provoking behavior because I am above that and promised myself I wouldn't purposefully provoke reta...er, forum people into being really actually angry and try to keep it all in good fun.

The number one issue I have had with Gemstone is, was, and always shall be this: There is a significant segment of people who have been playing this game for years and years who feel that this game should only be played in a certain fashion. Certain types of RP must be done this way, and only this way. If you disagree, you should die in a fire.

If someone wanted to do an RP storyline that these others felt was 'bad', for whatever reason, they would get things into such a tissy that the GM's would step in and change things in there favor. Why? Because they knew the GM's. They'd been playing for years, remember.

Now, these aren't necessarily bad people. Its just the way things work, the way things have always been. Who is to blame them for going with the flow? If you wanted to be one of the movers and shakers you had to think like them after all. So it was simple...for years some simply just went 'me too' and were accepted to varying degrees. Others have been quietly leaving because they DON'T think like the 'majority'. So instead of feeling left out, they left.

Things have been stagnant in the community FOR YEARS. Theres been no shake ups to speak of, nothing interesting has happened. Why? Because of this group at the top able to totally enforce there will and dominate...either through severe level advantage, account advantage (some people have like 8 characters!!!) or through fitching a bit in the forums and/or to the GMs and getting things changed and people shunned.

So Shattered comes along. Aha! I think. An equal leveling ground. A new start, a chance to have a NEW community where people could have fun the way they wanted! No GM's to come ruin our fun.

But alas, these same people twisted, lied, distorted, and basically shouted enough to convert many. Then, they did what they always do: Enforced there will through sheer brute force. And thus, a significant portion of the populace was ostricized, demonized and portrayed as Evil Incarnate. And why?

Excuses were many.

Because we weren't RPing a Cult 'properly'.

Because we KILLED people. And not for reasons they agreed with!

Because we were arrogant.

Arrogant. Yes, how DARE we suggest that our way of thinking is just as good as theirs? Can we not see how WRONG we are? Thus, we must be ignorant as well as arrogant. And thus such things (along with more) were cried out amongst the forums and in game until alas, we were outnumbered and outgunned.

We lost. I acknowledge that. Marlu was beaten. But you know who else lost? The community. Shattered. Any chance at any meaningful duality, any meaningful CONFLICT in shattered was closed out.

The majority is always going to win regardless. So if the majority of the server wants to just script and level and get to cap then there gonna be pissed when you are having what your version of fun is and ruining theirs.

So if you came back and wanted to play the bad guy again. I am sure some would welcome it. And some would hate it. But you would most likely need to find a way to not piss off the majority. If you did that some how and was in a controlled manner, those who wanted that fun could actually enjoy it. Those who didn't could as well by simply avoiding you.

Put in a little mechanic based on citizenry status to declare war on so and so and for a brief period of time a little mini invasion happens and PvP death consequences between waring cities based on citizenship are reduced or don't exist at all.
