I haven't yet been suckered in but all these new tablets look pretty amazing. Full 1080p playback? Yes please.
But are they capable of playing GS, that's the important question (for me.)
Any of you use one of these, or plan on getting one? I thought about getting an ipad but with the new version coming out soon along with some other nicer ones like the Galaxy tab 10.1 I'm thinking about waiting a little bit longer.

What the fuck 10" screen has 1920x1080 resolution?
Edit: Got my answer. It can play a 1080p file. But that is kind of useless when the resolution is 1280x800.

Please do! I actually just got an email from them this morning saying I could order one.

I can't see buying another device...
I got a gaming laptop and a netbook (with a t-mobile wireless USB interface) for road warrior duty, an Android based smartphone (which I use also as an MP3 player) or more generally Pandora, let alone instant information, maps, etc., and got a Kindle for my birthday with the free wireless account.
Item moved to discontinued: my MP3 player, my PSP.
I really can't see having another device unless it can supplant the Kindle (and that would be hard, the screen is AMAZING).
Only thing I'm likely to replace is the laptop, its a few years older than I would like, but has a 17 inch screen, dvd player, tons of RAM and i upgraded the video to handle most things so its nice on the road, the netbook has its place.

Adam should(I hope) replace the need for the netbook and the e-reader with the Pixel Qi screen.

I just want an old iPod that holds more than 2GB. :/
I wouldn't want to play GS on one. The constant typing would kill the tips of my fingers.

I think many of the newer tablets will allow for a keyboard/mouse interface and come with a kickstand type of thing.

My toaster holds more than 2gb. Move into the 2010s.

That's why I'm leaning towards the Adam.

I know I already had this conversation with you. Most of these tablets have HDMI out support as well. So its not useless when you can hook it up to your buddy's 60" TV when you're over there.

I can hook up a USB drive to a TV and get 1080p playback, and it doesn't cost me a new device.

There certainly is a place for a laptop. It just so happens that when I am outside and want to read a book or check email I can't read shit on just about any laptop I have owned. So that is not the purpose.
The purpose is to replace the two devices I use most, which are an e-reader and a netbook.
So far the tablets that have the Pixel Qi screen appear to do that.
I don't always need a keyboard input, I was merely saying that they could offer you optional input devices like iPad did with their keyboard dock thing.

Feb 25th. But I will be in Florida so I should be opening in the first week in March.

Right but good luck watching a movie using just your USB drive. Also, just because you personally don't find something useful doesn't mean other people don't either.

And I definitely want to hear how you like the Adam. My only reservation about the Adam is that it is supposed to be released with Android 2.x, but should be upgradeable to Honeycomb (Android 3.0) in the future. I've already been burnt by Samsung with my Epic regarding a similar promise, so I am pretty leery to trust these manufacturers.

It definitely will be upgradeable to Honeycomb, they have a dedicated team working on finishing it up right now.
One of the GMs wrote a gemstone client for Android, so if you get an Android tablet you can play GS. Lich doesn't work with it, but you could still play.

I can watch it on my laptop, my desktop, my television... why do I need to also watch it on my 1280x800 tablet? If your argument is that the HDMI output is super cool, shouldn't it be even more impressive that I can play a 1080p movie with just flash memory?

The main benefit is that you can do things by flicking your fingers around on the screen. Its so much more fun than clicking with a mouse.

The nice thing is the Adam has already been rooted and the marketplace put on it.
So I think even if NI had problems getting Honeycomb out the door, people would just install it themselves. Sort of like a custom phone ROM.
But I am anxiously waiting!
I really want the Xoom but I really don't want to pay for the ridiculous data plan rates.

Same here, not interested in paying $700 just because it has 4G. If the Galaxy tab 10.1 is $500 or less I'll be all over it.

Yeah, I really just want a wifi enabled one, and it seems like the Galaxy 10.1 might slot in cheaper. My phone is rooted and I have unlimited data on that so I can just tether the tablet to it.
