I played GS3 about 10 years ago when every caster used a sword and shield. From what I have read pure casters can now use a runestaff for defense which is what I will eventually be. I believe I am either going to play a pure sorcerer, or wizard.

I used to have a halfling wizard at about level 27. I will be rerolling at level one this time. Because I have the first 30 days to respec it sounds like a warmage should be used to advance as far as possible before changing to a caster.

The ultimate goal for the character will be to be a superior hunter with max end game stats. I will be playing human regardless of class that much is for sure.

What warmage melee training should I use until I respec?
Once I respec what is the best route to go as pure for overhunting?
Are bolts still dex based?
Do bolts still require stance dancing?
Are there any pure builds for either wizard or sorc that do not require stance dancing?
Is StormFront automatically the default interface now?

I prefer to not have to stance dance if possible, similar to how sorcs used to just sit in guarded and cast DC. I have read about Immolate builds, but what would be the most practical way to hunt while getting to a high enough level to make it work?

I had also considered a paladin, or a rogue for the purposes of roleplaying but from the sound of the active population it doesn't seem like that is a big part of the game anymore.

Lastly where can I find good hunting scripts to blow through lower levels for things like rats and manticores, so that it will fry me and take me to a node if those still exist?

Thanks in advance for any advice you are able to impart.

I have done pure the whole way through. It's not too bad. Most people don't like it. For the first 30 days, you can just basically be a warrior and get a 0x weighted claidhmore.

Wizards are easy to overhunt with in general.

Channeling aside, CS spells are cast from a guarded stance.

Bolt AS is affected by stance. You will spend, on average, 0.001 seconds in stance offensive per cast. I don't see what the fuss is about if you plan to have a script do it for you anyway. I prefer to do it that way too but it's no big deal to do with a macro either.

Don't even consider immolating until you're level 50 or higher.

Browse old threads in this topic. There's thread after thread about every possible decision for warmages. Screwing up a bolting wizard training would require actively selecting skills that are the opposite of what sounds useful. And even then, you still might succeed. Anyway, all the training advice you'll need is already posted.

I am sure I will need script help. Does Lich have one for rats in the landing? I used to have one that went from TSC to the sewers hunted until full, and back to TSC to rest.

If you are in Prime remember that you must always be at the keyboard if you run a script or you'll get busted. In Shattered, scripting is allowed so you can just use Bigshot and script your way to Cap.

1 or 2 not sure yet. Probably at least 2 for the first 30 days, and we will see which I like best after that.
