First off thank you everyone on here for helping me with my little questions this is a great source of information and i am very grateful of the help and messages hitting my inbox :)
i have played a few characters and have come to realize the rich role playing environment gemstone provides, i wish i could remember the characters name she/he has appeared on a few of my characters when i die (last one was a dwarf and she help bring me back to life) and its not like I'm meeting a player she/he its more like meeting a real person in game she/he is one of the best role players i have met and does it flawlessly.
anyway too the question : ) if this is a bad idea or would not work too well please say so i don't want to end up on the bad rp moments hehe. i am a Aelotoi male who is a cleric who was miss treated in his child life as a slave and had his tongue removed. this means he would only be able to communicate through emote's (if a npc requires a say remark to continue this would be ooc of course.
if this idea would work i have a few questions
1. is there a way i could edit my player description to add a line or maybe even wear a small sign if it comes too that so that players know right away that i can not speak or a better way of letting players know without breaking character(i know i could emote it :) ).
2. would this clash with my class do clerics have to mutter words to cast?
3. how does think work, i was tossing up the idea that i could think to other players to communicate , can only certain classes do this, and if i can do this is there a limit in fact i would want to do it in such a way that it drains me to communicate this way so i only ever do it at times my character see's fit, or even players who i feel a connection with (by this i mean characters who have the same believes my character has).
the idea of this is once i make friends in game they would start to understand the small subtle ways i communicate and even though i would never speak be able to hold a full conversation with me, plus if i get super close and always hang out with a character they could even choose to speak for me like you often see in movies when with two best friends and one is a mute, i like to think outside the box
thanks for all your comments

The character Yukito did something of this nature previously for at least a few years. That player was really quite incredible. If I were you I would beg about the roleplay community, primarily the officials, for advice from this person.
Otherwise just do your best. It's a really lovely idea. :)

is there a way to make your own verb...
example if i wanted my character too take a sip of the drink he is holding but seeing im new i dont know the verb command i could type something like
;;takes a sip of his ale and coughs as he chocks
and it would read to everyone in the room
bob takes a sip of his ale and coughs as he chocks

ACT.
act takes a sip of his ale and coughs as he CHOKES
would display
(Bob takes a sip of his ale and coughs as he CHOKES)

There is also the smile verb.
smile as he goes about his daily chores.

Evarin smiles as he goes about his daily chores.
I really wish frown operated in the same fashion.

ive been looking up how verbs work because im never breaking character unless it involes a quest then its a must.
this is going to be so fun, i cant stop thinking of ways to convey what i am trying to say. its going to keep things interesting. my character is going to be cheerful and i plan to use my wings a lot to tell people how i am feeling such as flaps his wings excitedly or Aliend wings droop.
cant wait

If you need to ask questions in an OOC fashion, try whisper ooc (character name)
As in whisper ooc bob How do I do X, Y, and Z?
IC whispers can be done via just whisper Bob, or if you want people to see that you're whispering to someone you would do whisper visible bob. Use that sparingly, though, as it will spam the room over and over each time you use it.
Also, don't respond ICly to OOC whispers. As in, don't nod or laugh to something said in OOC communication. It makes your character look like a schitzo ... unless that is what you're going for.

There are also some items you can write in as well as the notion of pretending to write to communicate. Vows of silence other than spells can explain things too.
The character Rekarth primarily used the crystal amulet to communicate, "thinking to" people.

For most verbs, there is a HELP part to it, as in whisper help, or glance HELP. I use that constantly to try to remember what different verbs can do.

That's a good one. There is a chalkboard you can wear, which I have seen used several times for deaf characters. You can also use the thought net, and Council of Light Signs

I would try making a post in the Marketplace>WANTED folder here on the PC. Someone will likely have one they would sell you cheaply.

I don't know what you're hunting, but even with no skinning ranks you can make a decent amount of silver skinning things like kobolds, rats, velnalin, etc. Just make sure you are kneeling and using a dagger when you use the SKIN command.

Yeah, shouldn't take you too long to save up for one. I have a level 8 empath that already has 100k just from hunting low level stuff.

Only thing I have to add is that GMs wont do feature alters that would go against mechanics. I tried to have my eyes stitched open, but they said I would break the game since I could still blink FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU. And 350 for a chalkboard is way too much.
and mumble...mumble alot.
Edit2: and try your hardest not to use ACT. I fucking hate people that use that.

Eh. Just make the ACTs not like "(Soinso makes a fucking dragon appear with his mind. FIREBALL!) and it'll be okay.

Act can be a great rp tool if used properly and within limits.

Make ('s and )'s the same color as your background. That's what all the cool kids do.

You may be able to track down a writable book as well, though they tend to be pricier than the chalkboards. They have 50 pages each, but you can erase things after you've written in them. Just make sure you get one of the books you can actually write in, as opposed to one of the books that are just scripted. The ones you can write in usually show up in playershops as containing creamy vellum pages, or something close to that.
The other suggestions are really great as well. I was lucky enough to play with Yukito quite a lot, and he made use of the thought net a lot. Itmight even be worth keeping a few extra crystal amulets on you so you can hand them to someone you really need to communicate with who doesn't happen to have one with them.

great : ), with the act i never planned to do things like hit or trip other players who says they didnt dodge it or jump over my leg, just using it for myself to emote what my character is tryin to communicate

hmm that sort of gives me a idea, for characters i become close with i could hand them a diary of sorts for them to read through and get to know my past, if they ever wanted to know

Another trick with ACT is to do:
act 's eyes water as he stares at Jihna's protuberances.
Note the space! But in the output there is no space.

I think we have crossed paths in one skin or another. Your doing a fine job and hope you enjoy the role you picked. Its great to have more rp'rs in the game.
