Dear PC,

Despite some opinions to the contrary, I am not a jerk all the time. This is a thread similar to one from about 18 months ago. It would appear that I didn't learn my lesson, as I just signed up for another marathon with Team In Training (TNT), a fundraising arm of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

This will be my 5th marathon in 5 years, and my 4th with TNT. Through these events and with the help of family and friends, I've raised over $14,000 in support of our fight against blood cancers. I hope to continue that progress as I prepare to run the Lake Placid Marathon on June 12th, 2011.

Some of you may not know how important this organization is to me or why. My grandmother, Roberta "Ma" Johnson, has been fighting NHL (non-hodgkins lymphoma) since being diagnosed in 1998. She's slowed down a lot over the past few years, but part of the reason we're still able to spend time together is due to the funds TNT raises in support of research and development of blood cancer treatments.

Please use the link underneath to donate and follow my progress. The tax-deductible donation will help fund lifesaving research, education, and patient services while providing help and hope.

So regardless of how much you're able to give, know that it's for a great cause. Forward the email to friends and family. Any amount helps and takes us all one step closer to a world free of blood cancer.

Thank you for your support.

Rob

P.S. All negative remarks about my hair, facial or otherwise, will be reported to the proper authorities.

Excellent. I will donate as soon as I can.

I would really like to find something like this in my area. If I could only figure out where my area is..

And you're a peach for doing so. You know I appreciate it, Stef.

Extra points for GA peach reference?

Can I make fun of you for having two first names?

Obviously.

And as a quick aside, for those of you that do choose to donate, could you please shoot me a PM? I am not so good at PC names, and would like to do some personalized leg-humping if I can.

Much obliged.

I was born in Opelika, AL. Until I was about 5 my parents called me Billy Bob.

So...yeah, it's my parents. My brother and sister still call me Bob too.

Could be worse, you could have it be your middle name like me. Nothing more hill jack than that. And no I don't go by Wayne Bob.

Bumb this after Valentine's day and I will gladly donate. Money's a bit tight right now.

Will do. No rush at all. I don't run the marathon until mid-June. Plenty of time for me to build and attach bionic legs.

Bobbert B. Bobbington just seemed excessive.

It'll be rapid, make men flaccid, and leave ladies gravid, when Rob runs his thighs arid at Lake Placid.

I would, but that would require more paint than I can afford.

Hope you get a ton of donations and have a good run.
Thanks. I'm looking forward to it. It's my 4th event with TNT, and am pretty pumped about the season.

Bob is a nice person.
He has to be. Otherwise he gets beat up for being named "Bob."

Thanks to all those who donated! I surpassed my fundraising goal today, a full two months before the deadline and the marathon itself.

Now I just need to survive...

I've got that on my playlist. Along with Jukebox Hero and Bang Your Head.

That's it. On a loop. For 3 straight hours.
