Is it totally random what these items found enhance?

There has to be some sort of set parameters. Which is why you won't see a shield that gives + to THW or something like that.

I agree, there should be some parameters. I'm pretty sure enhancive properties are partially determined by the level of the critter and the level difference between the attacker and the critter.

In other words, the higher the level of the critter, the higher the potential for stronger enhancive properties.

The greater the lvl difference when up hunting, the greater the chance of critter drops and box found items that may or may not be enhancive.

Just some things that I've observed, which could be right or not.
