Ranger rods

Anyone have any definitive info on making rods? I found some notes on my computer, but never wrote down the source.

Spiritual Lore: Summoning adds a bonus amount of mana to each imbued item created. Seed 1 benefit, max of +13 mana at 91 ranks.

My personal, anecdotal evidence, also points to Nature's Touch running being an aid.
Also, casting in an outdoor node seems to help before I got to the point where I only make rods.

With 1 rank of SMC and 40 ranger ranks I probably make a rod once in every 30-40 wands. Takes about 3-5 casts of 614 to make a wand.

I have 24 SMC and 53 ranger ranks.. It usually doesn't take long to make a handful of rods, luck maybe? I always use Nature's Touch and make sure I'm in a forest room with the 'observe environment' verb (not sure if that helps). I'd like to know is how to always make wiregrass anklets though...

my ranger had (at level 58) 59 spirit mana control, 59 blessing lore, 50 ranger ranks, and 20 magic item use. and rarely ever made anything but rods.

I would go 101 ranks or go home. Don't worry about enhancives.

24 SMC and 55 Ranger ranks here, making rods maybe 1 every 3 or 4. No lores.

30 SMC, 172 ranger spells, 101 summoning lore. I make rods about 75-80% of the time.

So what kind of capacity is everyone getting from their rods? 80 should be tops without the lores....

My rods can hold 93 mana.

Can yeah, I see that on the lore chart. Max looks like 93. Do you get that consistently, or is that the exception? I'm looking to put some extra points into SMC in the hopes of consistently getting 80+ mana rods, if it's possible.

I haven't messed much with imbue since the change from GSIII, besides the odd haste amulet or disk wand/rod here and there.

I don't think I've ever seen evidence of any of my rods holding less than 93. Doesn't mean it hasn't happened.

Oh I have 36 summoning lore ranks along with my 40 ranger ranks and 1 SMC and I'm almost certain that summoning lore has no affect on success or rod making. On the other hand my wands always seem to hold 46 mana when I do actually have success making them.

Also I feel like level might make a difference, but that might just be my perception with having more mana it just takes me less time to brute force it with my crappy skills.

The spell has been nerfed a lot. In GS3, you would make rods 95% of the time at level 50, based solely on level. In GS4, capped rangers still make wands relatively often.

with the upcoming fixskills i decided to burn up some points i had a do a little research. I did 4 batches of 25 imbue attempts each. all in an outside earthnode at willow hall.

level 63 darkelf. discipline bonus 8. intuition bonus 30. wearing no armor. spells worn , 603 606 625 and 509 (no encumbrance).

every time i made a rod i had a level 85 wizard there to imbue it with 401 to check capacity.

first batch 64 ranger ranks, 20 minor spirit ranks, 0 smc, 0 miu
result 25 wands
things noticed it never took more than 2 successful casts per but out of 25, 8 attempts took up to 6 total casts (2 successful 4 failed ) and i never failed an initial cast.

2nd batch 64 ranger ranks, 20 minor spirit ranks, 10 smc, 0 miu
result 10 wands 15 rods
things noticed. it never took more than 2 casts for any of these period. of the 15 rods made all but 1 had a capacity of 77 with 1 having 78.

3rd batch 64 ranger ranks, 20 minor spirit ranks, 20 smc, 0 miu
result 10 wands 15 rods
things noticed. again never more than 2 casts per. of the 15 rods made 4 had capacity of 77, 11 had capacity of 80

4th batch 64 ranger ranks 20 minor spirit ranks, 20 smc, 10 miu
result 15 wands, 10 rods
things noticed. again never more than 2 casts per. of the 10 rods 2 had capacity of 77, 1 had capacity of 79, 7 had capacity of 80.

i know the testing is a small sample group but i thought it was interesting enough that when the fixskill comes due i was going to continue doing some research
