Anyone planning on picking this up come Tuesday? It has been getting excellent reviews. If you preordered, you get the free on-rails shooter Dead Space: Extraction for the PS3 that works with the Move. Should be awesome.

Could you tell us a bit about the game. What's the plot, the graphics like, etc.? Did you play the first one?

My only complaint about the game is the guns. Just like the first one, every gun i've tried so far BESIDES the Plasma Cutter and the Line Gun are useless. The plasma cutter still rules 75% of the time, and the line cutter's shotgun-ness, coupled with its alt-fire mine covers the rest. Really, you don't need anything else. It will HURT you to mess with the other guns.
Seeker rifle, terrible. It is impossible to target limbs, so you're shooting the body with literally a bullet size round. This gun does not belong in Dead Space.
Rivot Gun - Fully upgraded, this thing seems pretty damned pointless. I haven't played with it much, but it did nothing to impress me other than soak up rounds for the actually useful guns.
Haven't tried the flame thrower, contact beam, spear gun, force gun, or machine gun (whatever it's called). If they're anything like the last game, the machine gun will be the only one marginally useful, especially as they upgraded its secondary fire. The contact beam is useful for 1 enemy, which is brutes. The Line gun + Stasis is far superior. The force gun is like a closer range version of the Line gun, which I suppose could be useful, but you're still dividing up your ammo. I dunno. I hope come the third one they realize that most of their guns do not fit the scheme of the game.

There's one gun you didn't mention in it that is pretty good:

Hah. Pew pew.
The advertising for this game really turned me off. "Buy it because your mom will hate it?" Really?

I agree 100%. It is a complete gimmick. It DID generate a lot of word of mouth buzz. People that have no interest in video games have asked me about this one. The problem is the first one didn't do so hot initially, and took forever to sell a lot of copies. They want to reach a broader audience than the hardcore gamer, who will likely get this game based on favorable reviews.

In defense of the games weapons I think it works out that the weapons are not designed well. This lends to the fact that most of them were tools, not weapons and thus crudely effective when employed in a combat manner. That and no one (that I know of) encountered these necromorphs before and didn't bother to design weaponry to combat them in the universe. It is a basic, grab this thing and go. Any weapon will work fine on the lower difficulty, if you go hardcore you will want to stick with what works.
First time through I stuck with plasma cutter, line gun, the rifle, mixed with a spattering of other weapons here and there. I think a player will stick to the weapons he/she enjoys using or decides is most effective for how they play. Just my two cents. I just started played Dead Space 2, so I'll see how it turns out.

I only buy games that have at least five kinds of wolves.

They should change the colour and give it a different name.

The ending is awesome. Much harder than the first one. Going to be a real bitch on zealot and hardcore.

Definitely report in on what you think of it. Did you play the first one? Alen Wake is also coming to PC, I might give that a try.

I did play the first one, highly enjoyed it too. Looking forward to playing this one in 3D. I will definitely be playing Alan Wake. I've been holding out for this pc version since they first announced it years ago. Dear Esther is coming out in 4 days, I've been hearing great things about it, graphics certainly look pretty.

This game makes me jumpy. It's nuts. Awesome game though. Not much to add other than what other people have said. Not too far in either, so.. *shrugs*
