Reminds me of my chausses.

An especially dark vein of incarnadine eahnor has been used to form the slender plate of these armored shin-guards. Brighter crimson eahnor, shaped into numerous stylized skulls, has been partially melted in order to depict their open-mouthed screams. Protruding from the myriad mouths are short, spiked tongues.

Even if they did, that's cool. Love the alter on the spikestar. Most wouldn't pay extra for an alter on a weapon/item nowadays, since they plan to alter it later on themselves. I think that spikestar is an exception.
