View Full Version : Bus drivers kick ass.

After starting my new job and taking the bus home every day, I really have to give it to these folks. They put up with a lot of crap, and I haven't met one that's been a jerk to me yet. I'm not sure how they do it.

I take 2 busses to get home, one is a Fairfax Connector, the other is Loudoun County Transit. Both of the drivers of those routes are so nice (and I've only rode the bus 4 times so far)... they remember me, and I was a quarter short on Friday evening and one even let it slide.

Anyway, end of rant, these people make the 2-hour commute home enjoyable and worthwhile.

I :heart::heart: Beth and Snapp!

That reminds me. If traffic congestion and parking is a problem in your city like it can be in Seattle a lot of employers have incentive programs that pay for bus fare or car pooling. I know you make more than enough to cover the cost now but it can't hurt to ask. Anyway, you rock.

Best public transportation in the States: The T in Boston. By far.
Best public transportation in the world: The Underground in London.

I'm assuming you've never been on the underground in London? If that is the best I shudder to think what the worst is like. Some of the most scary moments of my life have been at 6pm at a tube station with hundreds of people swarming to get on there and that stupid "Mind the Gap" dude bellowing in my ear. (I'm sure the other Brits know the voice I'm talking about.... totally sucks)

I *have* been on the Underground. It's awesome. I love the "Mind the Gap" guy. London underground = teh rox0r.

Last time I was in England, I just bought a seven day pass and went buckwild, went everywhere. Memorized the lines, much like Sherlock Holmes memorized the train schedules in days of yore. Oh, exciting times.

The Boston T and the London Underground have CHARACTER. That's what makes them so great.

The London Underground is also ten times (if not more) cleaner than NYC's subway system. Ick.

Anyone who thinks the NYC subway and/or port authority is dirty now missed its glory years back in the early eighties or so.

Oh, and public transportation does kick ass, just not so much in new jersey.

The subway stations in Moscow are some of the most fascinating I have ever seen. They are known for their lavish beauty. But, they do not have a "Mind the gap" guy, sadly. :(

whoa, someone actually likes the "mind the gap" dude?? He's so.... posh! The underground smells gross too and on a busy tube all you can smell is the gross odour of the sweaty unwashed masses. Also, the tube is never on time and constantly has to stop because of track problems or suicide attempts. The thing is, if you are in london it sucks to drive so you pretty much have to use it.
