Effective immediately, the following update has been deployed in all instances of GemStone IV:

If a person has an outstanding (unpaid) fine and is arrested a second time, their fine is converted to a town debt (with considerable penalties), and they are not allowed their choice of punishment but will be sent directly to jail for the second offense.

This is intended to help combat a longstanding problem of repetitive (naked) murders.

Max is 120 minutes. And hooray for the changes.

Edit: I wracked 30 murders for a fine of 66m, or 120 mins jailtime. So I doubt it goes higher.

Nope, your shit gets sold if you dont pay the fines. Problem with Sluntty is he runs around with nothing on so the debt means nothing. Hence why they added the jailtime to it too.

Sometimes he will just stalk you while invisible in town and wait for you to get out of town on your way to hunt before imploding you.

yeah, but griefers won't be able to just sit in a bank imploding non-stop for example. If they have to do it in a hunting area, it'll limit the amount of damage they can do. grief camping in a shop/bank affects the whole town (all the hunting areas in the area).

it also removes negative affect on people fighting back (ie, they won't get banned from the town).

Yep, I am sure the battle will be fought outside the gates, but that has always been a given. Can't complain about that. Expect smarter scripts from him that will patrol hunting grounds and do things. Time to put on our thinking caps about how we can adapt to this.

This is correct , except for the "harder to find people part"... Sluntty spends most / alot of his time in Illy..... And since now he got pwnd by the justice system and cant be a jackass in town , we will just now be seeing him camping out the OTF swim , since you get the rt for swimming , thats the only other place he can douche it up now with his scripts. So harder to find ppl no... his script just hides at the swim... people will pass by. So even though i am happy the gm's fixed the justice system, and we can better police him/ retaliate... it definately hasnt fixed all of the problem... instead of being randomly killed while i rest in briarstone court, i just get imploded on the way out of OTF now... not a big difference. I posted on the officals , maybe we can get Itzel to perma sanct the two swim rooms at OTF, and any other rt travel rooms in the high lvl hunting grounds. Make him work for those kills and not be afk lol.

I think there comes a certain point where we just need to adapt. It may mean picking a new hunting ground or lvling up at a slower rate or finding other methods of getting xp.

you can fog past the swim, rest in the tree, and get your alt to meet you at the barrier and fog back to town to sell for you.

Ya picking a new hunting ground , cuz for folks that are 80+ in Illy... we have tons of different places to go cept OTF....leveling up a slower rate is possible if u want to rest in OTF... but some of us need to heal once inna while...and some of us like to loot critters to pay for death stings sluntty causes....and other methods? Yea surely u can fletch or autoforge , but what about the folks who already mastered those skills before Sluntty started his shit?

As a person who has been on the griefing end from all you hippocrits and fell victim to all of you who took advantage of justice being off, i am extremely greatful for this amazing change. now i live in peace once again. And griefing just became 10x harder for sluntty and anyone else who wants to be the bad guy.

Well then maybe the community can help out with this. The issue with Sluntty in town was that we as a community could not do anything about the issue. That is now solved. Situations such as these need to be handled by everyone who plays. Getting the GMs to police situations like this is not the solution. Sluntty can be dealt with at these rooms.

Or, you know, hunt the temple, or the rift. Or warcamps. Just because he sits on the easiest capped hunting ground doesn't mean there aren't other capped hunting grounds. Also a sorc can take a whole group into OTF.

I'm going to go ahead and assume that they updated the justice system because it was an unintentional mechanical issue and that the sancting of rooms was an attempt to temporarily help us out while the proper changes were made. There's already a red-name post on the officials saying they're not touching any more areas for now. Given that this is a "pvp" server and that the fix implemented was based on mechanical exploitation, I wouldn't expect them to do anything else to help overcome other Shattered griefer situations.

Making more requests at this point just makes us look bad. We asked for a change to bring mechanics in-line with our expectations and we got it. I'm happy with that. As other people have mentioned, there are things we can do to try to police specific areas if need be. We should work on that now instead of praying for more divine assistance.

I did from 92-98. It was good. I only got hit on the swim out, 130'd back. This was before he capped.

So how do the new justice changes work with going invisible after killing in town? Do they still just stack until you are caught then you get a 120 minute time out?

I capped Durfin (a warrior no less) without ever stepping foot in OTF. There are plenty of other places to hunt.
