Got passed this by my brother and thought I'd share.

A homeless man with a "golden radio voice" turned into a viral sensation yesterday and has now received a full-time job offer and a house from the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to the New York Post.

Ted Williams, the soon-to-be former panhandler, reveals in the viral video that he went to school to develop his incredible radio voice before drugs and alcohol became a part of his life. He's clean now, however, and his hopes of radio and TV stations calling upon him for voiceover work have seem to come true.

The Ohio Credit Union League has also offered Williams $10,000 for his voice, says The Columbus Dispatch – whose videographer created the original video.

More info here (http://www.businessinsider.com/homeless-man-with-radio-voice-job-2011-1) and an interview here (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/01/05/earlyshow/main7215450.shtml)

Yeah, saw this yesterday. His voice is almost surreal, especially given the source. He's 2 years clean. Hope it works out for him.

AHH! I was watching this in the morning! Poor homeless radio dude. I dont usually watch non-cspan but I was flipping channels because they were debating something boring and this was totally sad. Glad he came out ok.

He's going to be on the Today Show for the entire show tomorrow. The guy that found him is actually a reporter. Hope the guy's luck hasn't run out.

How the guy's luck hasn't run out yet...I'll never know? Is beyond me? USE YOUR WORDS!

I wish someone would give me a home and money. I should be a beggar with a face for radio. I've got half of it down.

Yeah man, I liked Ted's stuff long before he sold out, but now he's just another soulless cog in the industry, you know? If you're lucky you might still be able to find "Will Narrate for Food" and "Can You Spare a Dollar?" on vinyl.

I think he meant to say "hope the guy's luck hasn't run out yet". It's funny cause I didn't even notice the typo until you made something of it. I just read how as hope.

I don't begrudge him his new found fortune; I just think a charitable gift of such a magnitude could be better spent amongst many people rather than one street corner beggar. If Ted doesn’t show up for work, or sells the house, or any of the other things he could do to blow it, think of all the other people that could have been helped.

The guy was homeless for a reason of his own making. I mean great story and all but $100 says he is back on the street in a week.

$100 says you'll be kicked out of your mom's basement within 25 years.

I'm pretty sure Back is trolling by spouting the traditional conservative line that the homeless deserve to be homeless.

I'm also kind of distressed that homelessness only ever gets brought up when it tickles our fancy, or one of them can do something remarkable. It's like they're worth nothing until they can do something that amuses us as a society. Jesus, I'm turning into a cynical fuck.

They should make being homeless a disease, like drugs, alcohol, and ADD, then no one would have to feel responsible for their actions.

Most young liberals start expressing more conservative viewpoints as they get older and mature.

Congratulations! =)

Many older conservatives get so reactionary and out of touch that their children become liberals.

And? There isn't a law saying that liberals can't be cynical. He's saying part of what is making him cynical is that no one gives a shit about the plight of the homeless unless the person does something that amuses the public. I'm not sure how the fuck you get more bleeding heart liberal than that.

Yeah, it's kind of a bullshit premise, though. No one cared about autism until they saw Rain Man and realized they could take their brother to Vegas and make a fortune.

Gladwell wrote a good over view on homelessness.

let's see, Google says it's titled Million-dollar Murray.

The article was pointed out to me because it mentions power law distribution which I have had occasion to use at work.
