Since this thread is useless, I'm going to just vent here.

It took me roughly 30 minutes to get busted for possession of alcohol at the annual spring running at Foxfield's (big thing in C-Ville at horse track every year). 15000 people, good number of college kids, and I got boned.

So...cop outlined for me exactly what I'm looking at. 50 hours of community service, a $100 or so fine, probation, and alcohol abuse classes. Student legal services told me not to contest it.

I'm looking at either a Class 2 or Class 3 misdemeanor. Aarlkjlrhglh. On my fucking record.

No point in this post except for me to vent.

AHAHA now had you been drinking rum instead of Saki you would have been alright.

I say contest it as a hate crime!

if you are going to play with fire don't whine about it when you get burned. did you honestly think it was legal to do what you were doing?

You didn't drink in college? I didn't think I'd get singled out in an area with maybe 1 cop for every 500 people who were pretty much all drinking.

Didn't you just go drinking again last night? (AIM snippets thread)

i've never drank. regardless though, even if you were singled out of a billion people it's wrong to be upset. it was your transgression that is at fault, not the cop nor the law.

Hrm, I say you were singled out because you were Asian! Those damn racist cops, you know how they are!!

Ironic to see that compared to some of your posted views, "i remember".

Telling someone its wrong to be upset is rather subjective. But then again I didn't see him blaming the cop, the school, or the situation on anyone. He just said he had shitty luck for the most part atleast thats how I saw it.

Ed's a smart guy, he knew the risk he took. I think his reaction is rather mature. Me? I'd be like, "STUPID DAMN COP OMFG".

Oh, and you might want to ask about... um. Defferal or something. Like, you do your service, you pay your fine, you take your classes, etc. If you do it all in a timely fashion and do n't get in trouble for 6 months after, you can get it taken off your record. I was with a friend in a grocery store and she got busted stealing stuff. I wasn't stealing, but I was with her, so I got busted too. They took it off my record because I did extra comunnity service and wrote three letters of apology.

Probably good advice. It might not hurt to contact the DA and try to arrange pleading guilty to a lesser offense. Just a thought. Sometimes it'll work, especially if they're overworked. Which is usually, I imagine.

^^^ What Raven said. I have spoken with the DA twice before court (manditory that I had to go to court) and had both of my speeding tickets taken down quite a few notches. (Still $$$$, but 2 points < 6 points & suspended liscense)

Oh well. It could have been worse, I could have tried to pass myself off as 21 by showing off my bad, cheaply made fake ID...

The real kick in the pants is I have to go to court in Charlottesville during beach week.

I just realized I never posted an update of the situation here.

They wanted to crack down on underage drinking (in a fucking COLLEGE TOWN), so here's the deal for me

- 50 hours of community service
- $130 fine
- 4-12 alcoholism classes (number depends on how well I do on a test that indicates how much of a problem I have with alcohol...) which I get to pay for
- If I get caught within the next year with possession again I'm boned.

Did you ask the judge if he knew any good bars?

Edaarin

Yeah. Class 3 misdemeanor.

Was that your first underage??

Pretty hefty sentencing if so.

You also never went to college.

Hard to be a commissioned officer without going to college longshot, but anyway this is further proof that Vinh sucks at life.
