Obama is reportedly reading three books (http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/12/31/2-novels-on-obamas-vacation-reading-list/) during the Christmas holidays. Personally, I don't think anybody could read three long books during Christmas vacation, and I don't believe it. I hope he's not just skimming them and then claiming to have read them.

President Reagan: The Role of a Lifetime (http://books.google.com/books?id=I5Yoz3dWP28C&dq=President+Reagan:+The+Role+of+a+Lifetime&source=gbs_navlinks_s), about how Reagan dealt with a divided Congress, among other things.

Our Kind of Traitor (http://books.google.com/books?id=-TnVeCjM2BUC&dq=Our+Kind+of+Traitor&source=gbs_navlinks_s), a spy thriller novel.

The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet (http://books.google.com/books?id=-76GjNpR9VUC&dq=The+Thousand+Autumns+of+Jacob+De+Zoet&source=gbs_navlinks_s), a weird love story set in 1799 Japan. Sounds elitist to me.

In other book news, Michelle Bachmann announced (http://www.salon.com/news/politics/war_room/2010/12/30/michele_bachmann_gore_vidal/index.html) that she used to be a Democrat until she read a novel by Gore Vidal. She said the novel was "snotty" -- a step below "snooty" -- so she did the only rational and natural thing a person can do in that situation. She decided right then and there to become a Republican.

How ironic, I became a democrat after reading Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead.

No not really, but I didn't care for the books.
