No, this is not a below-the-waist version of this thread (http://forum.gsplayers.com/showthread.php?t=35792) (although by all means, please don't let that stop you if you're so inclined), but rather a request to share what phat lewtz you managed to farm today.

Then why do you need a solar panel to charge things like your laptop? I don't understand. Is charging your laptop the most electricity you use while in a town, to the extent that the solar panel will severely reduce your carbon footprint?

Hah. I should point out that pretzels, root beer and wint-o-green lifesavers are what I asked for (and do every year, much to the chagrin of people who want to get me "real" gifts). I don't like having a lot of stuff to clutter things up, so snacks are my ideal gift. I also ended up with a computer chair and a cover for my nook, which are okay since they're accessories to the machines I use to help lessen clutter by keeping as much as possible in digital format.

Anyway, I bet if you took up scrapbooking you'd get plenty of gifts from Mormons.

At least you didn't get a cold sore (which is what I read when I first saw your post). And me too, totally sick for the past 4 days.

Wool socks are the bees knees.

I want some of those so bad. At home, my feet are always freezing with regular socks.

We were too poor to do presents this year, but our moms still got us stuff despite our insistence not to. My mom gave us $500 which was a combined anniversary/Christmas present, my grandma gave us $100, and my mother in law got him a thermal shirt and $15, got me super soft pajama pants and a hoodie, and for both of us, a $25 Cracker Barrel gift card. I think I might just have to go use that today and get some BREAKFASTTTSTSTSTSTST.

I didn't ask for one, and for half of the year, a solar panel would be beneficial since I do live off of the grid.

My dad took me to a casino and gave me 200 bucks to go and gamble with, a couple of days before Christmas. Due to the low limits I finally went and learned how to play shit like roulette, and ultimately I walked away with 160 bucks more than I started with. Beyond that, just a couple shirts and some socks. My family has never really been into gifts. Growing up we got one present and the rest of the present was whatever we did as a family.. this year was pretty much a throwback to that.

I did get a gift for my grandma and her reaction pretty much made my entire Christmas. She's had to move into an assisted living home and struggles a lot.. she's went from always having pets to not being able to have one. Her last cat (Tracy) went to live with my dad, right before she moved, but I found a stuffed animal cat that looks like Tracy as a kitten and gave it to her with a calendar. Calendar went unnoticed but she kept the stuffed cat with her the entire time and when we took her back she made a big fuss over putting it on the nightstand and making sure it was with her. It was sweet to see how much she liked it.

eta: My sister grabbed some good pictures of my son playing the piano at my grandmothers house. That and a hug from my friend's wife (even her chastely holding her body against me was very nice) were probably the highlights of my christmas. I gamble for entertainment. If I win, great, if I don't, then whatever. Losing 30 bucks at a time as opposed to 2.50 at a time means less time to gamble and less entertainment. It's not a matter of the games being hard, it's a matter of me never being willing to learn how to play before because the minimum bets were too high to make it worth it entertainment wise.

Side story to my "everyone get sick on Christmas so we can't do anything":

After I got the wife out of ER I went to the 24 hour CVS to fill her script since they were open Christmas Day. I'm walking down the aisle to get back to the pharmacy and I see some cash laying on the ground. It was 3, 100 dollar bills. I walked back to the pharmacy and the main pharmacist was working (I'm assuming to let his team have the day off) he's a real nice guy whom I've done business with in the past so we start talking and he asks what he can do for me. I told him 1) I need to get a script filled for my wife and 2) here's a wad of bills I found on your floor.

He was amazed I turned it in, he said he'd like to think most people would turn it in but it was 300 and you never know. I told him I'm no worse for wear by turning it in but if someone can come claim it this might be their Christmas money, food, bills, etc. He took my name and number so he could let me know if it was or wasn't claimed. They just called to let me know that no one has claimed it and I could come pick it up. I told them to hold it in their safe for the rest of the week to give someone time to claim it.

No, it's the kind of hat that a person who doesn't give a fuck what they look like wears. I make my own coffee, buy my books at the library for 25 cents each, and sold all my old vinyl to a hipster because I have them all in digital and don't pretend to be a DJ. I used to love all the kids in school who all wore black to be outside the box.

Shit, right now I'm wearing Jordans, a Whalers hat, sweat pants, and an old white Tshirt. People who actually care are the hipsters.

They also need to get teams in actual hockey markets though. Take Carolina and Tampa Bay and mash them into Hartford. Take San Jose and Phoenix and mash them into Winnipeg, and so on.

Ranking Team Average Attendance
20 Predators 15,991
21 Hurricanes 15,282
22 Panthers 14,965
23 Avalanche 14,878
24 Stars 14,724
25 Ducks 14,536
26 Devils 13,931
27 Blue Jackets 12,796
28 Thrashers 12,410
29 Coyotes 10,282
30 NY Islanders 9,692

Here are the bottom ten teams in terms of attendance (2010-2011, Yes, I know it's early in the season). While most of them are southern teams, 3 (arguably 4) are historically hockey towns. And Hartford might have been a hockey town, they were averaging less than 11,000 tickets a game in 96-97. They really were a lousy team in the mid-late 90's.

Winnipeg definitely make a better argument for a team again, but so could a second team in Toronto, maybe Portland or Seattle. Saskatoon (or Regina) and Anchorage could probably draw in greater numbers than 15K a day (however, it would kill their minor league teams).

I actually got something pretty cool its a pair of earbuds with kevlar wrapped cords.
