Anyone else watch this show? This year's show was really well put together IMO. If you haven't caught it yet, you can record the whole thing as G4 replays the episodes endlessly. I'm already looking forward to watching this Year's Ninja Warrior in full early this Jan.

I love Ninja Warrior but I haven't watched the American one yet. Looking forward to it.

I don't like how they turned it into a "Reality" Show though, just to get thru the final qualifications for the 15 that go to Japan.

Too much mainstream media crap for my like when it comes to something as simple as this, when a Qualification ladder would have been much easier, without all this back story about everyone and reality like episodes. Who will get voted off this week! Oh noes!

I'm irritated that Patrick gets to go when he so totally flubbed at the end. It's not that I don't think he's a good athlete. He is. He can and has completed that course before. It was just one of those things. But it was the final test and, for whatever reason, he failed. He should not be going in the place of a teammate who did manage it. /NERD RAGE.

I will admit I kinda liked the "reality" aspect of the new competition, as everyone but MOTHERFUCKING PATRICK was out to see the best possible people go to Japan, and not just out for themselves. At any rate, the style of elimination and punishment best suited itself for a reality show.

Fuck the American version, fuck it right in the ear.

American producers will ruin it with advertising and scripted events. Just like every other show on tv

The American version isn't much different from the Japan version. They are literally just training athletes so that they send the best possible to compete in Japan.

The year they did the American version it sucked rocks, looks like this year though they might be doing it better. What I mean is that the challenges "look" like the ones from the original in Japan, I might have to give it a look.

Agreed.

Speaking of that, my brother was watching this show the other day called "The Hole in the Wall," or something like that, and I was PISSED! It's a damn carbon copy of a Japanese show I love! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ewuc4iX9BI&feature=related

I just hope the bastards don't go and copy Kasou Taishou, cause that's my fav.

I like the way they are doing it this year, with a few challanges that are actually in Japan between each elimination.

The American version starts with 300 people running on a course somewhat similar to the first Course of the Japanese show. You have obstacles like the quad-step, log grip, bridge of blades, jump hang, parallel bars, and warped wall. Of those 300 contestants, the 30 fastest times go to the semi-finals. Three more obstacles are added to the end of the course; the salmon ladder, the uneven bridge, and a long ass cargo rope climb. The 15 fastest finishers (or those that make it the furthest the fastest) go to "boot camp".

In Boot Camp, 3 teams of 5 compete in an entirely different location with basically exact replicas of the obstacles of Ninja warrior, from stages 1-4. There is an initial event which is only described using which physical qualities would aid you most. All three teams pick 1 representative to compete without seeing the obstacle, and whoever does the worst faces "Punishment", which is usually something terribly shitty like moving a log wall about a mile away while the other two teams get times to train on the obstacle they will be competing on later in the day.

Once the team facing punishment is finished, the athletes then run through the obstacles most have been practicing on. Failure to complete obstacles comes with a time penalty. The team with the longest time has to select 2 of their teammates to send up a 50? foot rope climb. The person the fastest up the rope gets to stay, while the loser goes home. This is done once per day for 5 days until there are only 10 athletes left who are then sent to Japan to compete in Ninja Warrior. Last year, 3 Americans out of the 10 they sent made it into the 3rd stage, as far as any, Japanese or otherwise came to achieving Total Victory.

Exactly, only an American version of the show would demand teams and challenges where one team is punished, the selection of athletes to do certain tasks and the drama that comes around have the weight of a team on your shoulders.

Lol, I hope it's not like Survivor, where you actually get booted off for having good survival skills.

Nah. People usually put themselves on the ropes for failing the team during competition. Everyone truly wishes to send the best people to Japan (99% of the time).

It usually wins its air time. I don't think it's ever been more popular. This was the 7th season of ANW. Tonight was the season finale. It airs on NBC.

I watched this show the other day. It was such a shitty reality build up for this beautiful tiny (5' maybe) girl with black hair and she flubbed it on like the very first trampoline. Over shot it by like a good foot and went right into the water. At that point I knew I would like this show.

I do love the fact that they haven't caved in and made it easy. This stuff os ridiculously difficult.

And then they immediately shove a camera in her face and ask her, "what happened?"

Hehe. Poor Kasey.

Hahaha yesss, that was the best part. "So you fucked up, and spent all year training for this and really just screwed the pooch. You now have to wait another year to compete, how does this make you feel?"

I think I argued with my 4 buddies throughout the whole show about how we could do at least half the course.
