Alright...I've tried biting my tongue and whatnot but it seems like whenever Svardin comes to TC I immediately feel like relocating to another town.

He's just absolutely fuckin' obnoxiously stupid. Lately, he's been doing some half-assed Gemstone version of one of those Old Christmas stories.

Anyone else feel this guy is wrist-flappin' retarded?

The character acts stupid but the player is not as far as I can tell. It does get annoying sometimes but usually I don't mind. Just someone's attempt at RP

I'm pretty much of the same opinion as DoctorUnne.

I think that the complaint has more to do with the "Thrakmas is cool" school of thought more than anything else. A valid complaint, to be certain, but hardly unique to him. I group some of these behaviors with people like Silversoft and he's sort of like that in a way but without being a complete and utter moron (which goes a long way).

His 'saving roll' is the fact that he's in Mule.

I'm just sayin', when your character interacts with the statue more then the people around you, it's time to rethink your approach on roleplay.

And I'm tired of trying to have a conversation and having to screen scroll through "TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE THRAKMAS".

Svardin's character is, literally, insane. It's a fairly functional form of insanity, though. His player, on the other hand, has managed to put together the Drakes Vanguard and maintain it for the last few years. The Drakes just got their structure, too.

Meh, you could do quite a bit worse than Svardin.

At least he tries. He organizes and runs a lot of successful events and groups that people enjoy being a part of. So whether or not they are the best events, groups or the most fun, there are people who enjoy them and do not mind being around him.

And at least he isn't running around yelling "BRB!" and 'dude' which seems to be the new Landing trend.

I guess I haven't been around him that much, but from what I've seen the guy doesn't really deserve his own thread here. Especially with such a the long list of more qualified candidates.

I've spent over 5min in Icemule plenty of times and haven't seen much to justify your claims to be honest.

I agree with Ross (wait wut?) there are plenty of annoying people. It's gotta be something extra special to justify a complaint thread imho.

Hence the request for logs. I don't think I'm being unreasonable. I'd just like to see an example or two of said douchebaggery or unbelievably annoying behavior.

Svardin has been around a long time. He has also been RPing insanity since I've been around. My cleric grew up in Mule and was never annoyed by him. Yes, sometimes he says really goofy things, and honestly I laugh at him alot. I mean, he doesn't care what others think, which I respect. He will flop around and talk to the statue, but it's his character. He keeps it the same always. I kinda think of him as one of those harmless bums that hang around the local downtown area of a small town. Talks to himself, cuddles himself, amuses himself, while life goes on around him.
If he bothers you that much, either ignore him or rest in another noded area. There are quite a few around.

Also, I'd have to disagree with you on another thing. You are not an asshole, just particular. :)

He's kind of annoying but I don't find him anymore annoying than everyone else at TC. It's easier just to tune everyone there out.

I'd rather have Svardin around talking to the statue than not. It gives the place a bit more personality than most resting areas.

Nah, no way, Svardin's player has been RPing a crazy man with an invisible Drake friend for years and years. He's an Icemule institution. If his RP is not your thing, that's cool.

But he also happens to be a great dude, has organized one of the more visible and active MHO's around, and does nothing but help out everyone who he comes across. Heck, he spends just about every evening running events where all he gets out of it is laughs while he helps younger characters learn.

While he sometimes says and does bizarre stuff (which, incidentally, is a big part of what makes Svardin Svardin), I actually have always him to be rather creative in pulling it off. It may just be me, but I have always found the way he slips in and out of hiding so well to pull off his invisible Drake actions is a pretty unique and well pulled-off use of limited mechanics for his specific RP.

If you don't dig his RP, that's fine. Don't RP with him. He definitely doesn't deserve to be shit on with a personal complaint thread, though, for his decade+ consistent RP, imo.

In the interest of full disclosure, I've known Svardin (the character, no idea who the player is) for like ten years. *shrug* I've never seen him do anything OOC or inconsistent with his character.

The yearly visit by the snow elves to give gifts has actually been discontinued. For the past couple years we saw religious zealots wandering the various cities telling people to choose a side between Liabo and Lornon as part of the Feast of the Immortals, which falls around the same time of year.

I like Svardin.

I'm not sure what else to say really, I guess you either like him or you don't. I actually found one of his songs to be hilarious the other day, but yeah if you aren't in the mood, I guess it's wasted screen scroll.

Then again when resting my head it's nice to have something to read other than the constant flirting and sexual innuendos. Mule is over sexed as of late, and it's far more irritating than a guy standing around talking to a statue and singing holiday-themed in-character songs.

Svardin is, at least, in character and I've known him for years. He's the same Svardin every time I see him. I can't even claim to RP that good (my characters overlap sometimes or I'm lazy and don't keep up my themes), so really, I think this thread is more a compliment to him than not.

He plays crazy well. I've proded him for information on his insanity, and it's very well thought out and consistent. He's probably one of the best RPers on the game currently.

Having said that, I stopped asking him for help with rogue guild skills because only sometimes would he actually help me right then and there (unlike most people who will always do that). I've been told he's busy, completely ignored, and had to deal with crazy responses that grew frustrating after a while. I know it's RP and it's his perogative not to help me with guild skills but it got kind of annoying.
