Some people don't seem to understand what's going on, so I'll try to explain it better here.

Teh Problem:

The consequences for dieing are hindered experience absorption and temporarily lowered stats. Sluntty and Jaimaltz have decided they don't need any more experience, and they're right. At this point, more experience would not help them achieve their goals. Implosion and meteor swarm are working fine with their current level of experience. The pursuit of experience would only take time away from their griefing. Lowered stats are not hindering their griefing. Therefore, killing Sluntty and Jaimaltz, no matter how often, will have no effect on the situation.

For example:

Sluntty kills noob.
(two seconds pass)
You kill Sluntty.
(half a second passes)
Sluntty decays and appears on the altar.
(two seconds pass)
Sluntty kills noob.

The consequences for breaking the law in town are time spent in jail, silvers, and possible loss of possessions. Since you get to choose to pay a fine over jail time, the time cost is limited to 1-3 minutes. Since they have no possessions or silvers (on those characters), there is absolutely no loss of possessions or silvers. Therefore, the cost of being arrested is about 1-3 minutes of not griefing. They do not get arrested for each kill. Not even close. It's ridiculously easy to avoid being arrested while banished, even while murdering.

In addition to that, the justice system actually helps them. If you stun one of them, they just get arrested. Instead of keeping them still for however long you can, the justice system rescues them and spits them out in a sanctuary a couple minutes later.

Teh Solution:

The death's sting and justice systems were not designed to deal with this situation. Since they're just copied from Prime, there's no reason they would have been designed to deal with this. The only real solution is to add time and experience loss as consequences to these systems. Those are the only consequence that will matter to current and future griefers.

Teh Options:

1. The easiest option to implement would be to disable the depart verb for everyone all the time. However, since departing is important in OTF to avoid having your stuff stolen, I won't push this options too hard.

2. If you have death's sting when you die, disable the depart verb and increase the decay time proportionate to the amount of death's sting. This would make clerics more important, and may be beneficial to the game even in the absence of griefers. It would give people who do care about death's sting a better chance of avoiding it. It would have no effect on those who regularly take care of their death's sting after they die.

3. Cap death's sting, and directly reduce the characters total experience by the amount of death's sting that would exceed the cap, reducing levels and skills appropriately.

4. When arrested while banished, time in stocks is mandatory. Also, the cap of two hours should be raised to at least 24 hours.

5. Instant arrest for committing a crime in town while banished.

6. If accuse <name> banishment is used in the same room as the banished character, even if the constable/watchman/etc isn't in the room, the character is instantly arrested.

I think options 3, 4, and 6 would be best. Option 3 alone would give us a reason to fight the griefers again. Right now.. what's the point?

All I know is way back (a couple months ago) Shattered started and I wanted to be like this super badass griefer

The only problem with my original plan was i didn't wait to cap and got my ass handed to me.

So I slunk off and hid for a bit and worked off all the deaths sting and made it to cap. Now I get to fuck over everyone even the people who had no idea who I am or what happened cause I'm so butthurt I cried for like hours man about me getting deeded for 80 million in DS potions.

I am canceling all of my accounts, which includes 14 characters. IF something is not done by the end of this week. My $120 a month will be gone for good. I just dont pay for this kind of crap. Do something or don't, I know you could probably care less about 1 person leaving, i make up 14 people, does that mean anything to you? Thats $1440 dollars a year. DO you care Simu? THis is not right, and you know it. I started these threads with my original post. NOthing has been done yet. I still can't enjoy the games. You used others weaknesses, they were SO use to just bigshotting away in supernodes they even forgot they could rest in other areas of the game. Probally where you would never even find them.
