For those who LIKE hearing about babies, Matthew James was born on December 3 at 1:19pm. Despite my fears that he'd be a big baby, he was about the same size as his sister at birth, 7lbs 13oz and 21 inches long (making me feel better that he'll grow to be almost as tall as his first name namesake).

Sadly, he's not home yet: he's been in a step-down nursery (not NICU, but not home either) for the last week while his breathing was monitored, since the cartilage around his windpipe that helps hold it open isn't fully formed and hardened yet. We're hoping he'll come home soon, especially now that he's been assigned a monitor to use at home, and he hasn't had any spontaneous episodes of breathing difficulty.

Right now, pics are only up on FB. You can PM me for the link, or wait 'til I put them somewhere else like Photobucket or something to be able to put up here.

Congrats on your baby boy! I'm sure he's gonna grow up to be strong and healthy. He just wanted to take some extra time in developing. <3

A bit of a delay on the update because... he came home! He was discharged on the 15th, and checked over by our regular pediatrician on the 17th (stupid snow delayed that by a day). We have to keep him on an apnea monitor for at least 2 months, but he'll likely come off of that if there's nothing worse than false alarms. Now that he's had a few days to adjust to being at home, he seems pretty happy, and has already let me know that in a few years I can either do grocery shopping 2-3 times a week or we can get another freezer and buy in bulk: he's a total eating machine.

And I have no doubt that if GS is somehow still around in 12-13 years, he'll get some very limited access to play it. (It's one of the only games Momma can fully supervise; graphics games tend to make me queasy after a few minutes, so Daddy'll have to supervise those.)
