Have you ever been absolutely annoyed shitless by something that you can't think of, yet is on the tip of your tongue? I was trying to think of a word to describe experimental results for literally 10 minutes, and a day later it came to me all of a sudden.

Pointless post maybe, I'm just fucking relieved that I finally figured it out. The word was empirical.

I don't have problems with words exactly. No my problem is names. Names I can't remember. Of people I SHOULD remember. Like the lady in dispatch that has worked for my company as long I have. I see her every frigging day when I sign in. Can't remember her name to save my life. And I see her every day. I am too embarrassed to ask her name after all this time.

And faces. Damn. I can't tell you how many times I have run into someone I recognize from somewhere but can't quite place. Especially if I am used to seeing them in only one setting and then see them elsewhere. Drives me bats.

I have the same problem sometimes, whether it be a person's name or the name of some place, action, thing, etc. What really sucks is I'll remember it at the worst time and I'll end up blurting it out loud "Fuck! It was such-and-such" Usually when I'm in a quiet room full of people.

Yeah, happens to me all the time, especially at work. People will ask about a movie and I'll know exactly what they're talking about and not be able to put a finger on it until about two hours later.

It drives me nuts when something is on the tip of my tongue and I can't remember it. I have a little trick... I say the alphabet in my head and I usually can think of it. Weird how it works.

I'll have to try that. What I tend to do is just say to no one in particular, that it will come to me later. Either I get it then, or I will get it later, either way, its not like its life or death.

That's what I do, Vesi. It usually works for me, as well. :)

I have that problem when I watch movies and see people in them - usually not big-name stars, but the lesser characters, and I can't remember which movie I've seen them in before. It happened last weekend when we rented Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I spent half the movie trying to figure out where I'd seen the creepy kid before. He was the son in The Ring!

Way to go stupid.

The other night I rented Timeline (it was actually a pretty decent movie) and I recognized the father's voice(accent) before I even saw him. Then when I saw him it confirmed who I was thinking of. BUT I COULD NOT THINK OF WHERE I KNEW HIM FROM. I knew I had no chance of guessing his name, but I knew I'd seen him before.

I actually waited until the end of the movie to go to IMDB. And then I was embarrassed because I recognized him because he was the teacher on "Head of the Class".

Happens to me ALL THE TIME when I'm watching anime shows, because a lot of the same guys do the voices. Of course, they look completely different (what with being cartoons) so it'll take me about 9 million years to think of them. I can't even cheat and go to websites, because they all (apparently) use random names for different shows.

I'm with Latrinsorm on this one. I can't tell ya how many times I've recognized a voice from one, or many, anime shows or movies and not been able to figure out where else I've heard the voice.

What I hate is remembering the story of a book in detail, and not remembering the title of the book.

I had rampantly poor vision as a kid cuz of out of control diabetes (I have what they call brittle diabetes). My memory is photo and audiographic (able to reaccount conversations basically anything in text or anything I've heard), but what I have trouble with are people and place descriptions/connecting those descriptions to memory.

Unless someone/something makes a HUGE impression on me, I generally won't remember them/it at all. I never asked anyone why it was, but I have a feeling it's related to all the years I walked around blind and nobody knew (I'm extremely near sighted).

Thats OCD.

...no, it's not.

OCD behavior reduces a person's stress. What she's describing sounds like it can increase it.

I was sitting, trembling in a corner the other day, trying to remember who the Governor of Campania was during the Herculoneous Period.

Still trembling.
