if you have VHCP torso only chain armor and you put on regular arm greaves (no padding or enhancements) will you have VHCP on your arms and the chain class coverage?

if not what will you end up with?

thanks
John

Good question. I wasn't sure if it got halved in this case or not (since the accessory is not flared). What I think will happen is the padding will not be halved, however you still get - the CvA vs augmeted chain vs torso.

What about the crit divisor for melee attacks on the arms. Would it now be VHCP chain on the arms or Vhcp scale on the arms with the added weight of an accesory doing nothing?

In regards, I'm not sure in my above response. Hopefully someone else can chime in.

The weight does nothing, except encumber you.

The padding may be halved on the arms only.

1. VHCP everywhere including the arms.
2. Chain crit divisor (9) on torso AND arms.
3. Scale crit divisor (7) on head, neck, eyes and legs.
4. Torso chain (AsG 13) CvA and AvD
5. Double chain (AsG 14) RT penalties
6. Weight of accessory modified by racial encumbrance factor.

Ryvicke posted the factors already.

Essentially, each race has an encumbrance factor and a body weight factor. Check out the ENCUMBRANCE page, Section 4, Armor and Encumbrance on KP for a detailed explanation.

Armor Accessories:
Unlike standard armor, armor accessories will add encumbrance when worn. However, many of these accessories are modified by the race encumbrance factors. E.g., a 5 lb. accessory when worn by a halfling will only add 2.5 lbs of encumbrance while that same accesssory will add 6.65 lbs of encumbrance to a giantman.

Armor accessory weight * race encumbrance factor = encumbrance weight (when the item is worn).

If it is held in the hand, it is not modified by the encumbrance factor.
