I wonder what ever happened to that "Minature Sephwir Tree" or Small Tree,whatever the description was.

There's a choker in the Illistim boutique that has golden chokers inlaid with sephwir leaves. 8k per.

Not sure those will be useful for alter fodder, as it certainly will not inspect as sephwir, nor will the use of 'sephwir leaves' specifically imply the leaves were made of sephwir.

It would be extremely situational at best, IMO.

All of this becomes pointless if you aren't merely purchasing alter fodder.

As wood IS the proxy for sephwir before it was really driven home as an inspectable material, it may be plausible. There has to be a very obvious reason for it, mind you (such as enough in the item's general qualities to imply that it was meant to be sephwir).

They may not even do that much anymore, and I'm well beyond being entirely sure of their new alteration guidelines. Many things in the game inspect as wood when they shouldn't, and can be repaired by making a simple assist, and following up on the resulting referral. This is my account from a number of years ago, mind you, so my entire answer may be moot based on new GM instruction.

At worst, you'll have some fun trying to catch a merchant off-guard long enough to do the alter, then hope they don't go back and fix it. At times, you can get away with crafting things in slightly subtle ways that obscure your initial intent, but in hindsight seem quite obvious (a silver longbow, for instance).
