The Spike TV series with the american voices over the Japanese game show always makes me laugh.

They have them do those stupid stunts and they just all SO suck at them.

And the things they come up with for the various contestants to say or the jobs the read them off as having are too funny.

The one guy just now was described as:

He's a forfeit instructor at the french college of capitulation.

That's the sound of me having a seizure.

Wasn't it enough for TV networks to denigrate us with the likes of Banzai and William Hung? Urrrgh.

Tony Hawk is the man.

Most extreme challenge is just downright the number one show on television, well it should be, it is hilarious! And sometimes you see bones break!

I have never been a Japanophile (or whatever the term is). I've never been one of those people who consider everything Japanese the height of civilization, the katana the coolest, bestest sword in the entire world, or samurai the most amazing warriors in history. I've never particularly liked anime. Shogun was a decent book and miniseries. That's about it.

Watching the Most Extreme Elimination Challenge has forever changed my view of the Japanese. They are crazy. They are even crazier than Americans. It also explains why tentacle hentai is a Japanese invention. That is all.

omG I totally made my post in the "TV" thread before I saw this thread - Skirm ruleZ0rs for making it.

That show is so, so, SO SO funny. I don't think it would matter if it were Asian people or not - just the voice-overs they do and the wacky shit they make them do is hilarious as it is.

Yes, this show is fucking hilarious.

No, Edaarin isn't retarded like 90% of the contestants.

I been watching it for about 6 or 7 months now, and yes, it's hilarious. The BEST wipe outs, are the log rolls, and the comments are funny as hell.

Between Iron Chef and Most Extreme Elimination Challenge, I think the Japanese could take over our television stations!

Banzai, however, both blows and sucks at the same time. I'm surprised it lasted beyond one show.

My husband is hooked on that show. I giggle now again if I catch something funny. It's the commentators that make the show. My husband's whole Sunday is now laying on the couch flipping between Nascar and MXC.

What fun. Justin and I usually take a walk and visit people.

Longshot, its a show where they take footage of a Japanese game show by the name of Takeshi's Castle and simply dub the interviews and contestants and hosts in English.

The funny things of course are what they have the people say and the voices they give them...well, as well as the contestants themselves.

Its like they just picked normal people off the street to compete rather than only accepting the most athletic ubercontestants they could find.

I'm kind of not liking that Tony Hawk is getting in on the show now, though. Part of the appeal was that it was this obscure foreign show with English dubbed in and people you had no idea who they were.

I like the ones where they make them do a tug of war with something that they won't show them, on the other side of a wall - sometimes it's a cow, another person, a tractor, whatever.

Too funny.

someone explain this a little better?

It's Takeshi's Castle, but with English dubbing, half as long, and the dubbing doesn't go with what was originally said.

edit: no there wasn't.

I love the show, when my dad was visiting he thought it was hilarious. My girl, however, thinks it's horrible. And asks me to change the channel when she sees asian people go flying.

That sounds fantastic.

They don't have cruel gameshows anymore like they used to. It's a damn shame.

Two years ago when I was here, they had "Biohazard" the game show. Biohazard is "Resident Evil" in Japan.

They took these little kids and put them into a house with people dressed up like zombies. These kids were four to six years old. The people had on full stage makeup... they looked like real fucking zombies.

I really felt guilty for laughing... for about a minute.

There were two brothers that went in, and the one stood in the corner shaking and crying. The other one picked up a lamp and started beating one of the zombie guys and screaming at him. It was total chaos...

In retrospect, maybe it was a little cruel. Okay, it was really cruel... but it was very entertaining.

I've only seen one episode of Takeshi's Castle, and it was a tape from Japan that my history teacher in middle school had. They had one part where there was a black wall, with two doorways drawn in chalk. They had to pick a side and sprint through the door... except one of them was just wood. Watching people run full speed into a wall is just too much fun.

Yeah, they still have that one. One of my favorites is when they swing on a rope over a bunch of water, jump off, and try to stick to this adhesive matted wall. Very amusing.

The best part is the commentary when they're springing through the walls, drenched in mud, as a group. Two guys punch through one wall at once and they announcer says, "There's your classic double penetration right there."
