Probably relocating to around Columbus, Ohio (Work in Gambier, OH), so looking for any recommendations on the north end or eastern part outside 270 of Columbus.
Figured someone here would have lived there... so looking for some thoughts.
School district isnt too important. Nicer area, but doesnt have to be the rich area. Looking to spend ~800/month.
Son currently lives in Canal Winchester area - so searching for something between Gambier and CW..
Any help is smiled upon!

I've lived in Columbus since 2005. On the north end, Clintonville is a old, quirky, hippy-esque area with lots of vegan options and parks just north of OSU (itself north of downtown). North of that is an older and well-established area that's quite well off called Worthington. Both are south of 270, though Worthington is right on the line depending on where you are. To the NW, you have newer highly developed suburbs with Powell and Dublin, both nice if you don't mind commercialism. To the SE of the city you have the poshest area around, Bexley, and just outside that is the area that you might be most interested in - Whitehall and the area around it. It's outside 270, rent is reasonable, and it's closer to Gambier than the rest of these places.
Out of curiosity, are you going to Gambier for Kenyon College?

Fine! I'll be helpful!
I've lived in the Columbus area since I was 7, but I don't know much about the east side. BriarFox's input is good. I would also check out the New Albany area. Looks like it's close to the middle (driving-wise, not geographically) of both areas you want to live between.

I drove through there once. Didn't stop. Hope that helps.

Columbus is actually a great city. Big enough to have culture, small enough not to have traffic. It's a restaurant capital of the U.S., too. Great arts district, excellent nightlife, good sports teams, museums, four professional theatres, excellent shopping, so on and so forth.

Not to have traffic!? I beg to differ, good sir.
It's not NYC or LA traffic, but it's two or three times what the roads can handle though.

Even at the very worst, I've never been held up more than 20 minutes or so. That's pretty frickin' good.

But where were you going and from where, and when?

I've been to Columbus a few times. It oddly reminds me of a midwest version of Richmond; I've had to drive through it at "rush hour" and it was no worse than what I have here (which is SOOOOO much better than anyplace north of Caroline Co., VA, at rush hour). I just wouldn't willingly move to Columbus, especially since my best friend left the area. FWIW, he lived in a pretty decent 2-bedroom townhouse around the SW quad, just inside 270. I have no idea what the rent was, but I can ask him for more specifics as of about 5 years ago.
