1x Mental Mana Control
1x Spiritual Mana Control

Varsus

Okay well here is my advice ( I can't post my training since I don't have archery anymore)

For 1106:
1x Manipulation Lore - You won't need more than this to make the damage high.
3x First Aid - This plays a major role in the criticals of 1106. 3x is good.

For archery purposes:
1x Ranged
2x Perception

In general:
1x +10/20 Empath ranks. Gotta have the CS to hit shit.
MjS to 226
MnS Whatever's left. This generates more DS than MjS per spell
35/40 Ranks MIU
35/40 Ranks ArcSym
1x Harness Power
1x MC - Spirit
1x PT
Armor 35 - Brig is the shit. Especially if you plan on kneeling and shooting after a good foot removal with 1106.

The rest are basically free points. I don't really find going 3x in spells worth it enough to go over maybe by 10 - 20 spells at 86. Just too expensive and it doesn't raise CS/DS enough to be important. I do train in trading though, for flare, which is always nice to have as a human in EN.

My current runestaff training (because most things my age are easy to bolt with 111):

I'm 10.5x but in retrospective, the benifit for going over 8x in magical skills is limited, and I'd probably drop down to 9.5x and pick up some other stuff.

That's about it. Enjoy

Oh yah, 30 climb 25 swim will do you well enough for anywhere you really want to go. More climb would be nice for threads and stairs in the rift, but not a huge deal.

Why do you guys want to train in mental mana control?

There is no reason.

First, mental mana control won't be needed for a LONG time.

Second, there will be a fix-skills when it comes out.

What a waste of TP's.

because its a cheap magic rank for runestaves.

What needs 25 ranks of swim? I'm just curious, it's just so rare that you need to swim. I agree with Mental mana control being a waste. Why not up the spirit mana control instead if you want ranks, just for the reason of getting better mana regen?

Probably because assuming my numbers are correct both cost 0/3 for empaths. So you can you can 1x smc and 1x mmc at less cost than training other magic skills that you wont use either. Because no empath will probably use a full 1x miu or the benefits of a full 1x arcane etc.

I do MMC because I know atleast ONE bard that trains in it and no elemental, so I picked up my share so I can send during purifying sessions.

25 ranks of swim will get you past the underground river to the Rift and through the waters before the Old Ta'Faendryl Barrier.

You can't use any device to transport yourself to one of these locations so its mandatory.

As to mental mana control being used as a cheap magic ranks, I wouldn't do it since the difference in going over 8 magic skills per level by JUST mental mana control in very small. you could train in other magic skills which might costs a little more, but actually have some use in the current game.

And a bard training in mental mana control? I don't see a reason for them to do it either.... Their elemental mana control costs exactly the same.

You don't need that many to get past the water.

You need anywhere from 20 to 30 ranks of swim to get to the Rift (my rogue gets in fine with 20, I've heard pures need 25 or 30).

What happens if you don't have enough swiming for the rift or OTF? Does it not let you in, or do you drown?

Dunno about OTF, but if you don't have enough ranks you can't jump into the lake.

MMC is cheaper than doubling in SMC and you still get the higher mana pulse benefit. Also, it's another magic rank to help defense. I train in it because there is benefit, regardless of its usefulness.

Bards train in MMC because it helps Song of Unravelling, whereas EMC does nothing for them.

Just as a by the way, unless they have changed the swimming necessary for the rift since GS4 was implemented, my sorcerer could make it fine with 15 ranks of swimming. Id usually loose a few health points, 20 max.
