A greenhouse actually.

Is there anyone with some sort of experience in this sort of department? I've found a few material lists and plans on the internet but I want to go to my brother with some sort of plan.

We're looking to get my boyfriend's father a green house, he already has one that probably needs to be repaired which would be the second option if the materials were too expensive. The ones online that you can buy piecemeal are pretty expensive. I wanted to compare prices of doing it by ourselves. Of course, I would NOT be the one doing any construction, I may have man hands but I'm terrible with tools.

My brother has a construction/painting business but I don't want to lay all of the responsibility on him. Anyways, if anyone has advice or ideas on how to build a good greenhouse at a fraction of the price I'd be very grateful.

:thanx:

TL;DR, building a greenhouse, need halpz.

Repairing an already existing greenhouse is much cheaper 9/10ths of the time.

Though temporary ones can be made fairly cheap. Finding the supplies this time of year either way is gonna be the tricky part (IE Nurseries have bought up MOST of the supplies for winterizing their own stock).

Good place to check for the supplies (Repairing the old one, or building a new one) is Sonne-gro in Knoxville.
Phone: (865) 546-9608 for a catalog of all the stuff.

Good luck either way!

If needed, I'll post some pics of our winter greenhouses at work and how their assembled.

:)

We're thinking that we're going to fix the one he has and maybe build a long/wide walkway into it where he can set up additional shelves if he wants to. It would be easier to build a rectangle. If you don't mind posting pictures that would be great <3

I'll snap some exterior/interiors tomorrow at work and get'em posted when I get home.

They're just basic cold frame greenhouses that serve as temporary winter shelters, but they do the job.
