Thoughts?

Really, the main question I have is if I can get away with 0x dodge, 1x shield with a paladin and survive for any reasonable length of time. If not, I'm open to suggestions on where to move things around.

Thanks,

I appreciate your response, brief though it may be. So far it seems fine, but I won't know for sure for a while (obviously).

Is Tsoran's spreadsheet accurate; does it really make the most sense to use a medium shield, even though I have zero dodge?

Also, I'm curious if people think it's worth it to wait out for a weighted One-handed weapon, or just get a normal 4x morning star and enjoy the plasma flares from 1625.

I'd wait it out myself.

Also, I'd be using Tower shields with 0x Dodge, in conjunction of course with 1609.

But 0x Dodge is feasible

Should be able to find one of the 5x swcw golvern morning stars or a 4x hcw fel-hafted vultite waraxe pretty easily.

I have a couple different weighted axes if you're interested. Shoot me a pm.

what's a fel-hafter run these days? I'm just starting back up again, so my bankroll is pretty dismal.

... I fixskilled to THW. Current regimen:
2.8x Armor
2x THW
1x CM
1x MoC (will train 30 ranks at 30, 5 more at 35 then probably stop)
1x PT
0.7x Dodge
10 ranks climb
10 ranks swim
1x HP
1x Spells

I've got myself a battle axe for critters in cloth through scale, and a maul for monsters in chain and plate. Before, using OHB/Shield, I would plink away at monsters; now it seems like I'm barreling through them. So far, I'm very pleased with my decision.

Get that dodge up to 1x.

Get CM up to 1.5x

Get PF up to 1.5x

Find the TPs by either:

Get 5 ranks of MOC, then stop.

Back down Armor to 2x unless you have a set of REALLY good set of MBP or fullplate all ready to go.

the gameplan is to get armor up to MBP, then back way off and train up CM, PF, and Dodge.

I'd still suggest 2x, mainly because I think it'll make life more easier that young.

If you can get massies and other spells I'd try to 2x CM and .8x dodge, easy enough to make up that defense, and swinging harder is fun. Later on I think I backed off 2x CM to pick up 120, then started back up again. Eventually got to 1x dodge, then dropped it down to .7x to pick up ambush, but thats all post cap.

id get 3x armor to get to 90 ranks asap because being in plate class armor is a wonderous thing and it doesnt matter what you sacrifice to get there because being in plate trumps all else in my opinion.

and keep dodge at ZERO, i dont know how thats even arguable for a shield using paladin. im a shield using paladin and ive never trained dodge and never will except possibly in a hypothetical post cap situation that I will probably never get to.

personally i think the flares are going to be better then having weighting, the weapon would ofcourse have to be at least hcw to even consider that.

edit: being at 90 ranks at the earliest possible time is the key thing, that doesnt necessarily mean you actually train 3x armor per level just that when you are 28 trains you will have 90. i dont think that any one thing ive trained benefited me more then climing into hcp mbp, even just regular 4x+ mbp is still worth going for if you dont want to spend the coin for the padding.

He switched to THW, you need the dodge.
