So my warrior is fully trained for his breastplate. I was 3x'ing armor to 27 to do this.

Now I am wondering what to do. I can't afford a set of heavy padded plate (who can?!). But, I do have some arm and leg greaves, a beautifully altered helm and some gauntlets in the locker.

Does wearing piecemeal armor increase functional AsG of the armor? I know that it does for calculating RT - when I wear a helm, for example, I am at max AsG rating for whatever class I am in, adding several seconds to my RT while in the breastplate because the game thinks I am in full plate.

But does the AsG increase in terms of protection?

Inquiring minds want to know!

Can I just train up the AsG ladder, strapping on additional protection along the way?

Short answer: Yes.

Longer: Adding on pieces will add to your converage and effective AsG. You won't get the CvA of full plate (TD bonus), but you can mix and match your protections and bonuses. So you can wear your MBP and then put on padded arm and leg greaves (lot cheaper than padded plate!) and then if you headbutt, put on a spiked and flaring helm.

WARNING: If you put on a helm with nothing else, you still got the penalties of full plate but no additional plate coverage on arms/legs (but you got chain arm/leg coverage from the MBP)...

So yah, keep on training in armor, and mix-match to your hearts content situationally.

I was in mix and match until my full plate was finished enchanting. The biggest benefit is the CvA, which at that level hopefully won't matter to you too much!

Just be careful, if you have a padded BP, and non-padded, or even flaring greaves/helm (not 100% on this) I believe the benefit to them is cut in half. Sooo, you can either spend money going after really nice greaves and helm, or put it towards really nice full plate, of which there's a lot on the market :)

Have fun! Plate makes a world of difference in warrior enjoyment.
