After having a huge issue with the version of AOL I was running on my machine at home, I simply scrapped it and installed AOL 8.0 ... Problem I have is that the text in websites is really fucked up to the point I can't read it.
I've tried going through the Control Panel -- Display to try to fix it, but to no avail. I'm at work right now, so if someone can guru a way to fix it in bout 8 hours, that'd be great.
Much love to computer gurus. Please help.

Fucked up how?
If it is too small/big, try changing the font size. Within Internet Explorer, go to View -> Text Size -> Medium.
If it's something else altogether, please explain.

Free AOL account means I'm keeping with it.
Thanks for the idea, Wezas. I'll give it a try when I get off of work.

If you have something that isn't Dial-up, download FireFox (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/).

Unfortunately, I live in BFE and there is no other service besides dial-up. Once I move it won't be an issue, but for now I must deal with it.
Going from UNF's T-1 line to BFE 56k is like a root canal.

I know the feeling.
My granddad has been online for about 2 years. Mainly sending pictures and jokes and submitting stories for a local paper in the PA area.
He was telling me he was having E-mail problems. Basically outlook was not sending the message back to the E-mail server that the e-mails had been downloaded and everytime he checked his mail, they were downloaded again.
So I tried to fix the problem. And I waited... and waited... and waited... for that first E-mail with an attachment to come in. I finally checked his connection and it said "Connected at 12.2". I about had a heart attack. I double checked his dial-up numbers (and made sure his modem was 56k) and tried another local number that said it was 56k. Was able to connect at 14.4.... ugh... So I told him to call at&t (his internet provider) and ask them about their modem and/or for a better connection number.
I come home tonight to a mass E-mail from him asking people not to send him E-mails. He's spent hours on the phone with techs and had them go through and delete most of the spam & big attachments. He tells us if AT&T can't resolve the situation within a week he'll be switching providers. Gonna look up high speed providers to give him a price range.

okay....the text I read on the PC is Sans Serif font 6 if that. It's weird and I can't read it. My AOL text is also off, but I can live with that. I do not understand what I've done or not done. If someone can help me, I've already tried fixing it using the Control Panel and Wezas' suggestion. E-mail is tayrevon@play.net if you've got any suggestions.
PS. What I type looks just fine, it's different, but at least I can read it.
Edited because when I post, it's formatted into the same crappy non-readable text.

Just a quick update.
Examining the Control Panel/Display on another computer, also the IE/View is an EXACT match to mine, yet mine is still fucked up. Still fielding ideas/hail-mary schemes to get my computer working again.

go to windowsupdate.microsoft.com and see if you need anything.

I'd try Artha's plan first, though.
