View Full Version : Upgrading my RAM

Anyone know where I can get the following...

4GB, 204-pin SODIMM, DDR3 PC3-8500

And not spend 150$ for the two chips I want to buy.

Also, opinons about quality versus cost are welcome.

I'd prefer not to spend 150$ or more, but I will.

PS: My computer doesn't support dual-channel so I have to upgrade both 2GB ram cards at once.

Unless your computer is, already an RAM dinosaur, then do the reverse of what I just mentioned.

Disregarding all fear of outing myself as a mostly computer illiterate person, I'm going to go ahead and say that I have no idea what you just said.

I will say I tried to find what you were referring to, and on Win7 64-bit, it must be called something else, or deeper in the taskmanager than I cared to venture to look.

I doubt my computer is a RAM dinosaur though, since it's currently at 4gb (as 2 chips).

Minimize background services. And this is a serious do as I say not as I do. I think I'm usually running ~%40 CPU on a plethora of fluffy shit.

Ok, I know what you're talking about now.

Currently I seem to be running at about 30%, but it's mostly stuff that's essential.

I just want more ram... I'm not really having slowness issues unless I'm doing about 12 different things at once.

Either you don't understand what dual-channel architecture is or I don't.

Have a blast but if you say that you aren't using dual channel then that means you can mismatch RAM all you want. This is a dual channel kit in that the sticks are identical, an optimal situation for dual channel motherboards.

Ah, I thought you were fine-tuning, I'm assuming this is for something associated with major RAM-taxing then?
