Anyone else notice that in the last couple months the huge mass of stuff for sale has dried up? High end characters are absent from GSAuctions and the boards, high end items aren't flying around like they were...

Paul bought it all up. Shame on him!

No EG auction meant no one raising coins which has a decongestant affect on the whole market. When one thing moves others move as items become redundant and then those items are traded for or put up for sale and people sell or trade more items to trade for those items. We're like a snowglobe that has settled. Whenever they have a big auction next year you'll see the deals getting lubed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIO1YoexWz0

It's because Simu is a bunch of fags that won't release any cool items.

Fixed.

Heck, without the auction at EG, my downgrade auction really got not a lot of interest.

I sold a few things to replenish my coin bank, and traded a few, but heck, I posted Thalior's staff, a 425 item and 3 charging crystals, a 4x db (this did get a lot of interest, but nothing in trades i was interested in).

Stuff left unsold, an 8x mcw broadsword, a 4x vhcw troll claw, bunch of others.

Basically, its saying the population is happy in their current gear, or gots some new fusion gear to play with. Its also saying a lot of the merchant players aren't playing anymore, Kizun is gone, Kitsun you really dont sell stuff anymore, Neimanz is fairly absent, GSauctions has the same stuff it had a year ago, i dont know if they got anything new high end in years really (though I dont follow it much)

Its also with the population drop, coins are harder to come by (though couldnt tell that by the dropping coin price) and cash sales declining.

I dunno, lots of things

I've definitely noticed a shift in the market. It's interesting. I don't think demand has decreased, I think the supply simply isn't there.

Ond is another merchant that stopped selling too. A couple big, big merchants who churned out silvers cashed out, which created a glut of gear and silver that has seemingly been absorbed into the market. I think things are actually beginning to stabilize. If another big silver soak comes along that is accesable to most of the population, you can expect silvers to get back up to 8 per IMO.

Expect enhancives to be recharged via silvers around christmas time as per usual. That should help quell the silver flood. If only it would be a permanent thing, I think it would help with the massive accumulation of silver.

Makes too much sense. Clearly not an option.

I haven't found what I'm looking for as far as high-end toys, otherwise I'd be buying.

As a newcomer to the market with not a ton of coins, so most of my offers have been cash. Compared to the history of the high end forum, it seems to be dropping off.

I've actually sent out quite a few PMs trying to track down items I saw for sale previously to see if they still were with little success.

I'm interested in things like Paul's DB cloak, etc, but not everyone wants cash either. My circumstance may be a bit different than the established high-end merchant, but the willingness to buy is still there if the items make their way out of lockers.

No offense paul, but I wouldn't call what you did an auction.

"Hey, I got these nice things, I might sell them or trade them, it depends. Let me know everything you have, and if what you have is better than what I have, I might trade what I have for what you have. Prices? Nah, prices are for pussies."

An auction would have been...

"I got this shit, the MB is 10m coins (or $100 cash) come buy it."

On the other hand, in the last couple months I've spent over 100m coins. A lot of it was EG related though. Much more than I spent last EG with that shitty ass auction (90% of the good stuff was in the token room).

Oh, you're quite correct, it wasn't an auction until Downgrade Part 3, coins. Then I was just replenishing all the coins I spent at EG, and buying premium points.

The second part isn't quite true, I'd trade up or down for things that made sense and I'd actually use. The hard part is finding people who are willing to trade things given no influx of new items. EG 2010 didn't help much given only a few exceptional things went out (couple rare flares, the auction level tents which I was trying to acquire (and still want to buy Farmer if you dont want yours, Katara won't sell for sure). That was the whole point of my sale was to get stuff I'd actually use. Very little is sold for coins player to player, trades or cash dominate the high end market. Heck, I only sold for coins to to restablish my bank after getting sub 50m and wasn' able to outbid Katara on the tent.

I did in the course of my 'event' get what I needed. I am sitting now on 200m in coins, I only sold a small fraction of the gear I wanted. I ended up with a 10x db cloak with the sale of the 12 setting ring. I sold a bunch of things for coins (Phang got the +22 claid and 5x/day 130 item, sold the dag for 80m (coins and a fix skills potion I needed), and a few other trinkets).

I really don't use Thalior's staff, but given its basically a 4 in 1 self mana item, why would i sell it straight up for coins when I could try to grab usable items. Biggest problem for me is I mostly playing squares and the MIU and AS investment is huge there. Ditto for all the HP to keep that many spells up when I am only in my 40s on both characters.

I am surprised the 8x mcw broadsword and 4x vhcw troll claw haven't sold , but oh well.

Like you, i spent a ton of coins acquiring pp's and other stuff, and got my hammer taken from 5x to 9x, i need 7000 pp's to bring it to 10x and be 'done'. That is the thing I currently desire most.

As far as merchants, O is done at the moment as he has quit. He kept all his gear so i expect him back at some point, whether its to play or divest is up to him. Everyone needs a break now and then.

Just wanted to say that I for one am hoping he comes back someday, but it seems like he's pretty busy currently. He's a friend of mine and was good for the game.

There're things I want still but they're all basically RP toys. Unfortunately, we've entered into a feeling of "This is MY toy and I will quit forever with it still on me so that no one else can enjoy it, muahahahahahahahaha!!1!" A lot of the things I want most are held by people who quit with them or have them on alts that they barely play.

I'm content with my collection of 6x and 7x lances, and 6x augmented chain. I really don't need more awesome gear.

Is it ever really about need? I don't need a high enchant handaxe with lots of weighting for example, but I want one. I have a couple of other wants too.

Unlike the other Paul though, I don't keep a ton of stuff around to trade. I'm more inclined to do deals in coins if I'm buying, but will look at trades if I'm selling and you happen to have something I want.

I think part of the problem is that a couple folks who have larger stockpiles of gear who want to move it, just are not super willing to do a a full account liquidation and move on.

There have been a couple floated my way, and the margins on them were less than 5%.

Nobody is going to spend $5,000 today on accounts and characters to make $250, well maybe someone, but nobody I know. Just way to much risk and work.

Surprised nobody has said it's because the game is dying yet.

I think that the player base for the game has stabilized to some extent. I don't really see that many people selling completely out but I see new people regularly. I would expect that for those that are leaving now the same number are coming out. The game will persist until the Dev team (and Lich/Til) stops the maintenance. At least that's how I feel about it.

Wonder how monks (insert joke here) will impact the economy.

Asha
11-19-2010, 06:37 PM
Since they wouldn't wear armour or use weapons, probably not a whole lot.

Ardwen
11-19-2010, 06:45 PM
monks will likely use items though, encumberence reducers etc at the very least, no idea how much magical help they'd need at this point.

Like Paul I have very limited wants at this point, I collect weapons. The rarer the better but I've had a decade to get almost every one I wanted, if the others I'd like ever turn up for sale I'd likely start moving stuff, til then whats the point? If you cant improve what you have now and dont need more coins, exactly what is the point to moving rare items?

When monks are finally released, there will be a rapid growth for the robes market as well as the (3?) brawling weapons supposed to help with the "damage/crits" from Unarmed Combat.

I expect no shields, though.

Almost positive no shields was confirmed at Simucon.
