After sieving through papers for hours today, trying to find all the known components of a certain immune response pathway, I've decided that what the world needs is a web-based database to serve as a repository for this information. Something like genbank, with sequence information, related publications, known interactions, etc., but specific to this pathway, but for multiple organisms. I don't need anything fancy, but I do need something easily searchable and easily expandable.
I know some of you folks have made online databases and am hoping for tips and suggestions as to how to go about setting one up. I have hosting solved, but everything else is up in the air. I've made databases before with Filemaker and Quickbooks, but I've never made a web-based database before and I'm not sure they allow the level of detail and flexibility of search parameters I want. Anyone able to recommend software and provide tips?
