I know there are old school weapons that don't follow the rules, but as far as current day GS4 rules go, is there any chance of me altering a weapon's noun to something non standard?

I know there's always the chance that I can catch a GM that's not paying much attention or doesn't know any better, and I'm always hoping for that, but are there ever "major" alteration slots that let you go beyond the normal rules? Basically I'm just wondering if I'll ever be able to turn my maul into a mallet.

If it isn't an approved synonym, it'll be a tough sell.

I'd say it's possible. Accoding to Simu mauls can also be known as sledgehammers and tetsubos but there are also a bunch out there as footman's hammer, which is listed as a mattock noun.

GMs are pretty strict on the weapon noun deal. Poor new merchant was forced to chase down people to fix a turnip peeler and shoe heel dagger a couple EGs ago.

I'm thinking my best chance will just be to catch a GM sleeping or get a noob. They should really have *extreme* alteration certificates or something, like they have the custom swears and custom verbs..

Whoever uses my Gravedigger title deserves to have their weapon altered into a shovel.

Took me somthing like 4 years to find a GM willing to make the Lochaber. Almost noone is willing to even look at the pipe, cane or various other oddities I have, abnormal weapons just arent appreciated much any more.
