I can't seem to get a definitive answer on the main forums, so I'll ask here...

Does training past 2x per level in skinning skills increase you chances of skinning? Some people said yes...other no. I know I "can" train 4x per level if I wanted...just not sure if you get more of a benefit for doing so or if your skinning skill gets 'capped' or something.

No, it's not capped, but you'll notice diminishing returns. The quality of your skin is the product of the difficulty of the skin compared with your skinning ability, with an open roll thrown in (at least, that's how I imagine it works). Once your skinning ability is high enough, you'll notice little difference between being a "good" skinner and a "great" skinner in a lot of cases (i.e. 3-4x). But between 2 and 4x, you'll notice a big difference.

So, basically, 4x skinning skills (2x FA, 2x survival) if you want to be the best skinner possible - and use 604 with blessings lore.
