View Full Version : Claidh vs. Lance

Greetings warriors,
So I rolled up this fancy elf warrior who swings a lance. CMAN Charge is awesome, and I was generally happy with this decision.
That is, until I decided to play around with a claidh. Man oh man, limbs are flying now! There's no great CMAN to go with the claidh (MBlow is expensive for my nooby warrior right now), but it certainly does the job better than the lance.
However, this is all early level crap...does the higher possible enchant of the lance and CMAN Charge outweigh the claidh's performance later on?
Some people swear by lances...some advocate claidhs. Is this partially because claidhs are generally more expensive? Or maybe something else?

Both are great weapons and you really can't go wrong with either one. Especially warriors. Later on once you master berserk both weapons are even more lethal.

I recommend doing a search of the forums for this very title.

One day I'm going to snap and go down professional folders and make the following threads....
"Who makes the best archer?"
"What level can I go pure?"
"What lores should I have?"
"What's a good build for someone who wants to heal and hunt effectively?"
"Any new news on Monks?"
"Two-handers or sword and board?"
"Any advice for an archer ranger?"
"Whats a good build for someone who wants to hunt effectively and also pick boxes from the rift starting at level 5?"
"RSN?"
"Claidh or lance?"
"What's a good build for a warmage who also wants to enchant 7x sanctified enhancives at level 25?"

Don't forget to make a post declaring that wizards are lucky because they can enchant their own weapons and armor.

Holy shit did we make fun of someone for being lazy and they actually understood the complaint, took it in the good-natured and helpful (yet still cynical) way it was intended without throwing a hissy fit?
My head just exploded.

Are detailed profession guides a thing of the past?

Yes. More or less because those whining about people being lazy for not doing a search in forums, are themselves lazy for just not writing their advice into a word or html format and sticking it on a free page.

claidhs > mauls > lances
i have been a warrior for 15 years, and have messed around with everything you can think of, nothing compares to the claidh, even a plain one, unless you have a 6x or higher lance or maul? then maybe you can start to compare, but the crits are just too good on a claidh.

Attached is an xlsx I threw together quickly. Hopefully it works.
Specifically, it looks at weapons with crit weighting (claid) and the outcome needed for a higher DF weapon (lance) to overcome the crit weighting.
Plug in DF, AvD, ET, and Crit Weighting.

Yeah, all that information on krakiipedia just posts itself. It became self-aware several years ago.

If you haven't noticed alot of stuff still isn't on there, it is incomplete. Hence why people ask on the boards.

I gave a detailed breakdown of endrolls required for crit-kills in a thread called "Claidh vs Maul vs Lance"

Nothing is perfect.
If you haven't noticed, every thread where people get directed to krakiipedia or to use the search function on the boards, the answers are there. Weird.

I'd like to see a calculator on krakiipedia, plug in the weapon type / weighting and compare it to various asg/padding. It would spit out a form showing endrolls and max crits generated.
Is something like this out there and I just didn't search hard enough?

Yes but to freak out over someone asking is also being a dumb ass.
