View Full Version : So, a question or two about Forging...

While thinking about some of the various artisan skills, and which ones would likely be up my alley, I opted to not even bother with Fletching since I have no use for it clearly and figured Forging may be the next best bet....Who the hell cobbles anyways?!

So, my question is, what sort of price sink am I looking forward to if starting the long and tedious journey towards Crafting/Forging.

What kind of ballpark figure can I look at for Mastering Crafting? 1-2mil?

Along with that, what of various weapon types, IE: Edged? 2-4mil?

I'm just curious to find out how much I should be expecting to put out for this so I know what to leave in what bank and so forth.

Odds are I'll likely just slowly work up every weapon type when I can, since it gives me something else to do besides hunt on the small hours I'm logged in.

So all in all, what sort of price tag should I be looking at for crafting, then a weapon type?

As a side note, I suppose I could also purchase a Perfect forging hammer if anyone has one to sell possibly. That way I can just work on attuning it while ranking in a weapon type. If not, guess I could try to make one myself down the road as well :)

The only real money sink is going to be making your perfect hammer.

You can actually do all of crafting on one block of wood and one slab of iron if you don't mind the significantly longer rt.

Even without that it's quite cheap, couple hundred thousand should get you there.

Interesting, don't think I knew about this. How then, could this be done?

The one block of wood and iron bit that is for crafting...

Now this is going on 2 years ago, so someone can slap me upside the head and correct me if I'm wrong...

Normally the progression is...

Stare, get tongs, get tongs, head finished...

You can do stare, get tongs, stare, get tongs, stare....etc etc, ad infinitum.

You get the 30 extra seconds of stare for each attempt though so you're increasing forge time by about 20%

You're thinking of forging (GET TONGS). Crafting is STARE HANDLE, TURN GRINDER, which reduces the amount of material you have to work with.

I don't remember how much money I went through to master crafting, but I don't think it was terribly significant. Time is a MUCH greater concern than money, imo. It takes for-fucking-ever. And it's dull time, too.

There ya go...a better athority than me, but the wood is like nothing...

If you REALLY want to be a miser, do it in the landing and forge your own slabs of metal in the kobold mine...

The old voln step

And yes, takes for fucking ever.

from rank 499 to rank 500 in crafting...I had 61 hours of solid rt...

that's on the high end, but still, it's a number I'll never forget.

I'll be altzeimers guy who can't remember his own name but I'll remember the 61 hours of hard RT
