I started to put this in I love being a boss thread but decided it needed its own. Lets here the down side to being the boss.

I can't say I love being the boss. I hate firing people, I hate being having to smooth out employee's little games with each other and me. I hate having my day off interrupted with someone not showing up or any of the above. I hate when people steal from me and I know it, but unless I catch them in the act I can't fire them, until they make another mistake. I hate not being able to call in sick, when I am. I hate having to paste a smile on my face and walk out be nice to ass'es when they are being ass'es, just because we need the business. I hate when people eat half their meal and then send it back saying they didn't like and a. want their meal comp'ed or b. want something different, and THEN want a to-go box to take home the meal they didn't like. (to give to the dog)
I hate the old biddy who complains about almost every meal, but comes in every day to send back her food for one reason or another, until I get fed up and ask her not to come in any more. She shows up the next day, apologizes and becomes a model customer.
I hate the table of old geezers who come for coffee, every single morning, give the waitresses a hard time, insult us at every opportunity, (as a joke) and expect us to kiss their asses, just because their regulars.
I hate that my most valued employee, the hardest working and the most trustworthy is also a drama queen who is a trouble maker. I hate that she wigged out on me Saturday and now I have to fire her and it blows my vacation.

Or employees who want full time hours but then have a school schedule to work around then all these days they want off so they can go to a party or something. Then they bitch because they don't like the hours I do give them. It makes me want to kill people sometimes.

I was a waitress for about 2 weeks, made great tips but it was the regulers that drove me crazy. Those people think they deserve special service EVERY visit. They are the most important, and don't make a mistake on their order, they fill the need to be your boss for the moment and correct you.

I feel you on the level of being a boss Myshel, definitely not a piece of cake running a business. I'd assume the restuarant busines is in a class all by iteself.

I used to boss like 18 people I went to school with. I thought they would understand that they had things they needed to get done to keep my ass out of hot water with the state. All that I required was doing some paper work things that would take about 30 to 40 minutes of time to do and the rest of the shift, they could do whatever they wanted until a 911 call came in.

I was the director of operations at the ambulance service I worked at. But no. They wanted to sit on their asses and do nothing. I mean hell, 30 or 40 minutes out of a 12 hour shift isn't that long of a time. I can't stand lazy ass people like that.

BEING A BOSS SUCKS!!

I love being the boss to include firing people. I tell anyone put under me that if I do it they can do it. If I don't do it and I catch them doing it then it's their ass. I lead by example and expect the same amount of effort, professionalism, etc out of them as I exude myself. Granted I piss off alot of people and I let go of more people than any two manager's in my dept but that's life.

I feel your pain though, Myshel. Having to not be sick, having to work long hours on account of some dumb ass, having to play mother to grown men and women, and having to put up with asshole's with a smile on your face.....sucks. It sucks hard. But it's life and if this is the worst I get then I'm happy. Hell, at least here I'm not in charge AND being shot at like when I was in charge of my data platoon heh.

Most likely you heard her talking about her relationships with women. "Not that there's anything wrong with that"
