I don't suppose we have anyone who could call themselves a "music professional" on these boards? Anything from actually playing an instrument professionally to working at a music store? Any response would be nice, but I need someone who can claim to be a professional. My topic of study is looking into the history of punk music, but I do not necessarily need someone specializing in that.

I'm a classically trained singer, and I also sing in choirs as well as in a Blues band.

I don't exactly make a living at it, but I do get paid to sing regularly.

I'll help you out if I can.

I was doing some PR work for a rock/metal band that recently broke up if that qualifies.

I think I'm a semi-pro, or something, because I (and my band) get paid to play, but we don't make a living off of it. But we play real music, so I dunno if our experience is relevant to punk rock.

Why isn't punk rock real music?

Prepare to be burned.

Prepare to be burned. Where's a prepared smiley when you need one. :medieval: will have to do.

I do have a past in music, band geek if ya wanna call me that but it paid for 3 years of college for me which is why i did it. Maybe if you ask a couple questions here or a little more info on what you are needing im sure someone here could help you out, might be something some of us know, or is it more on the lines of an interview type study you are doing?

I'm pretty sure Ilvane has the qualifications I need. I just need to find a way to fit it in to what I'm doing.

[Edited on 4-18-2004 by peam] Yeah, the Me generation is still going strong... no wait it's a completely different society.

And Bush sure is a hell of a lot like Reagen... well no he isn't.

At least disco is still around, crap, that's gone too.

You're welcome.

Does past profession count? I was a professional musician throughout college and beyond, having obtained a busker's license to perform in Harvard Square and the Boston Commons. I played at several clubs, and performed with a band at a benefit concert for the American Indian Council. I also appear as back-up vocals on a single (back when it was recorded on vynyl, it was called a 45).

I don't play guitar professionally anymore, but made a living at it for 7 years.
