Just about any class/play style is possible. Maybe not all the way to cap but for a good while absolutely. I know there's a guy out there that plays a warrior and only hunts using scrolls..

THW Ranger is totally possible and I've seen a number of them. It's all about what you wanna do bro...so, just try it out and if you don't like it you'll get a fix skill in a few months.

Well in 87 and bored of archery so I was thinking about fixskilling bit have no idea what to do as far as training a ranger In 2 handed at that level

My ranger was THW ambusher from about level 40 to like 62ish or whenever i quit. Worked okay. Missing an ambush or if someone walked in while I was in RT usually led to negative consequences.

Just type goals and play with your skill goals to see what you can afford. Or if you don't like clicking hundreds of time, it's pretty easy to see what you can afford at the inn. Or there's that spreadsheet I'm too lazy to link.

The training plan is something like the following:

2x THW
1x PF
1x dodging
1x ambush
1.5x-2x hiding
armor to double chain at least
1x perception
1x spells
1x harness power

and then whatever else you want

Yeah I play Chiv, you can do two handed rangery, just be careful and prone/stun things before you attack (we have plenty of ways to do this). Archery is stronger but two handed is more brutal and you can kill tougher things/invasion things easier, but overall tougher/slower than archery.

Also, if you are going to ambush (I've never done open swinging, seems like a bad idea at a high level) then find yourself a maul or mattock, using anything else is generally a waste.
