So I'm pretty coding/IT savvy, but I feel like I'm a bit behind the times when it comes to using all the new mainstream internet shit (facebook,twitter,etc..).

I don't regularly read any forums besides this one, so I'm curious as to how everyone else "does the PC". My daily (ok bi-hourly) habit is to just query getnew and/or getdaily. I know you can subscribe to threads, though I never do that and don't really want to receive more email.

So does anyone use external forum tools or other cool techniques to feed their PC addiction?

Pretty much just this.

I will occasionally use my Android phone to check the forums, but it's sorta clumsy so it's very rare: for example, if I know there may be boobs posted soon in the topless thread I will refresh with my phone.

In those situations I find it's tidier to refresh with a kleenex, but hey it's your phone.

I usually start at the control panel since you automagically subscribe to every thread you reply to, that way I can read through the ones I know I'm interested in first, and then I'll do the today's posts.

I didn't know this, so I went and checked... sure enough, I don't think the subscribe-automatically-to-every-thread-you-reply-to is a default. You have to go into Edit Options and change "Default Thread Subscription Mode". Not sure if I'll use this, but neat.

Interesting. I didn't have that set up either.

I believe I know of someone else that has that feature turned on because every so often it shows up and recalls old threads just to reply to comments made to it.

I'd rather just look through New Posts and see what's interesting. The arrow in the folder icon will let me know if I was already involved in that discussion.

I do what drew does.

Subscribe to all threads I post in and check New Posts.

I have a routine I run through, I start at the new posts thread, then open my CP (you heard me), as well as each page from the new posts. Then I start at the last page (so if there were 5 pages of new posts, I start there), and open in new windows each of the threads that looks interesting. By the time I get to page 1 and then look at the control panel I look through the auto-subscribed posts to see if I say "Oh, somehow I missed Picture Post when I went through", so I double check those threads.

Then I go through all the posts, and think I'm going to be real clever and the first to reply with a Billy Madison quote to something and then it's already happened by the time I actually get around to posting.

What I would really like would be some sort of context menu browser add-on that is "Copy to Photobucket and put the url in my clipboard", so I could quickly copy images found round the tubes into posts (and prevent hotlink embarrassment)

I goto quick links -> today's posts. I don't like just going to new posts since sometimes I want to go back and read something I didn't previously reply to.

Close, but not quite a context-menu add-on (since it's browser-agnostic)... (http://sourceforge.net/projects/clipupload/)

You might find something more to your liking here (http://imgur.com/tools/), though.

It's a bit flakey, doesn't work with everything but I'll take it.

ETA ... FUUUuuuuu, by default it doesn't put the extension in the clipboard, that's going to be annoying.
