1st grader makes himself a KKK shaped mask in art class without direction from the teacher and his parents are outraged and pulling him from the school. The school is apologizing and dropping the class.... People like this are the problem today, let kids be kids, if he makes a fucking cone head so what, he's 7. And for the school apologizing and dropping the class, you might be dumber for caving in... Tell the parents to beat it, no one there did anything wrong.

I think I might have told this story on the PC before, but oh well...

Once in elementary school I drew a rather frowned upon symbol that caught my teacher's attention.

Teacher: Umm, do you know what this drawing is?
Me: Yeah, it's legs and feet going around in a circle, like in Bugs Bunny cartoons.
Teacher: Yeah, but this symbol is also known as a swatstika, and it's not a very nice thing to draw, so how about you erase it?
Me: Oh...

There was no call to my parents. No meeting with the principal. School wasn't closed. I did ask my parents about it later, but they calmly explained it and it still wasn't a big deal. I never realized before how fortunate I was to grow up around sane people.

The parents could have just educated their child on what it looked similar too and let him decide if he wanted to modify it or leave it. I'd never have looked at it and thought it was a KKK mask but I guess I'm not sensitive enough.
