View Full Version : Cross?
Im looking to pick up a cross of some sort, so this might go out to you a bit more TheE than others, but if anyone can help me out i would be happy.
I'm not catholic so I'm looking for a style of cross that is just say "universal" <Celtic crosses won't work either... not irish>
anyone able to give me a link to a picture or something of the like so i can search around some?

I always recommend the Jerusalem Cross, myself. It's non-denominational and I think it captures the universality of Christianity well. Google "Jerusalem Cross" and you'll see what I mean, or look up one of my threads from a while back (title was something like "Having a good day"
Edited to change "non-demoninational" to "non-denominational". I'd hope a cross wouldn't indicate a demon, myself.

The Egyptian ankh is another possible choice for you, Edine. Here is a link to show you a picture, and tell you a bit about it:

Hmm. Here is a link for the Jerusalem cross:

HarmNone...Google is your friend! :D
Hmm do you know anything about something that would relate more towards the Dutch or Baltic regions?
If I'm sent to Iraq, which is a high possibility, that cross might not be the best thing to wear.
I do want it to have some religious "symbology" (Symbolism for those of you that have not seen "Boon Dock Saints") harmnone, not being Egyptian nor believing in their polytheistic religious history as nothing but history ... any other suggestions?

The maltese cross comes in many variations and is rather nice looking.

I do not know of anything specific to those regions, Edine. If it is a Christian cross you are seeking, probably just a plain one without embellishment would serve your purpose. You should be able to find something like that pretty easily. :)

the maltese cross still has a bit to much of a tie in to the crusadors having been on their coins.
but its just bland then :pout:

Try this site, Edine. There are several different types of crosses listed on the list to the left:

You could get a silver nail. It's less popular than the cross (probably because it's a bit more unpleasant and can poke you and stuff).
naw artha that has become the "in thing" since Passion came out.
Army wont let me wear it anyways

What are you going to do, sort of crucify someone?
There are only certin types of jewlery you are allowed to wear, a cross and an ID bracelet being them.
ok this is the one I like the most so far

Heh. I thought you might like that one. I almost posted that link, but I did not want to make assumptions. ;)
HarmNone, good guesser
*Hee! As I look back, I see that I DID, in fact, post that particular link. My bad! Hate assumptions!*

St. Bridget's cross is an interesting one, as well. The accompanying blurb tells her story, and that she created a cross out of reeds. That is what the pictured cross emulates. It is very unusual. :)

I could not sit through Dude where's my car... which is why i dont know it.

yeah your prolly right RangerD1, I like the one i picked prolly most of all though
well for all of you that cared, this is what I got.
kind of off topic, but on the same subject, anyone ever seen a fairystone cross? they are formed directly out of rock and are said to be the tears of angels, nice long legend behind them, look them up. I only know about them because my grandparents live maybe 5 miles from where they are ?mined? only place in the world they are found
Amazing twined staurolite crystals form a natural "faceted" cross and are known to be found in only one place on earth - in Patrick County, Virginia. Legend has it that in ancient times when the news of the death of Christ was brought to the fairies that roamed the land in Patrick County, the tears they shed fell upon the earth and were crystalized into these beautiful crosses. You could say they’re made by the Divine Hands of God. Natural (mottled tan, brown, and white colors).
found a site on them, find a picture later on
