I am just curious. Does one who reaches guild master status have to be inducted inside a guild?

yes, one of the NPCs has to recognize it
edit: I think. We've done every induction inside the local guild master's office

fyi, I don't want to discourage you, but it took the about the whole length of the last free gift box month to get everyone together. You'll have to check if there are enough active masters and coordinate with each of them individually and together. I recommend posting on the officials, too.

I have recently visited all the guilds to find the names of registered guild masters.
There are only 4 in the lands in three different towns.
Virilneus, Asenora, Berrigan and Sereg.
How many out there have the mastery of one guild skill and a total of 125 ranks or more?
How many are guild masters that are not registered at a guild?
I have mastered illusions and have a total of 135 ranks.
I would like to become a guild master and continue to help those with illusions and with alchemy.
Asking the guild master npc says that he can help with the promotion part and that there needs to be 5 people that have at least 125 guild ranks and mastery of one skill. Since under the GLD menu, nomination is not highlighted that means at least one of these people has to be a guildmaster to nominate a person? If it takes so many people to make this happen, then lets get a fresh group of people inducted.
Lately, I have been spending time in the Landing and Ice Mule. In the coming weeks I will be mostly in the guilds doing
alchemy work. On wed I will be in Ice Mule for White Haven's service night, and if you want to spend an hour there
working on illusions, I would be glad to give that time to help anyone.
Send me a PM, post here or think to me on the amunet while in the landing or a Lnet thought.

Unsure why the sorceror guild would be different but technically a warrior could become a guildmaster anywhere, assuming of course there were enough liveng breathing masters. And of course nothing has been nerfed, used to be a nice bit of xp for the 6th promoter if I recall correctly.

I can help get you inducted whenever I am around. I'm fully mastered in all of it. I have not seen Asenora lately but of she is still registered she has to be about. Viril and Sereg I know are around. You may have some luck getting the group together with Ebon's gate coming up. Im sure folks will be around a bunch.
You can always get me on AIM. I really have no clue anymore who is left that mastered. Most are gone. I thought Rontuu might have been about lately? Alle is on here but does not play and Simmer hasnt been around in forever.
I would post on officials as well and see who crawls out.

That's what I thought about it before. One guild master to nominate, 4 others to witness and one other guild master to do the promotion.
If you can only get one guild master to attend, and 4 other people that have the needed requirements, then the Guild NPC can promote you.

I have also posted on the officals and just giving things some time. I know there are a few who have mastered illusions, but haven't advanced too far into alchemy yet. The two I know who might be close if they have been working on it are Moredin and Aduial.
Thanks for the response and I hope that this can happen some time in the future.

They really should revise the mastering process, I think. The number of people available just doesn't readily support the requirements of having 5 other capable members around. It shouldn't be a month long (or more) process of finding people out-of-game and then scheduling something around everyone's personal lives.
Between my rogue and sorcerer, it's just not worth the effort to master because I've played prime so rarely over the last six-seven years. I could master the rogue any time, but the sorcerer still needs some dreaded alchemy training. If I wouldn't lose master status after disappearing for several months, I might be willing to do the alchemy work needed for the sorcerer and master him to help people out with nominations at least. As it is, it's just not worth it.

I agree the mastering process is a pain. Even if one guild master shows up the other people that could make up a group for induction would all be able to be done at the same time. However, considering how few guild masters there are, there are about as many that are ready to become masters or are close to it.
If a mentoring program or something similar to how you get letters of recommendation to go to college would be easier to work with people. You would still have to interact with them and see them. Like get three letters of recommendation and have like one guild master and maybe another skilled person in attendance for the promotion. Just an idea, don't know if people would support such an idea. You know less tedium, more action.

Also if you master all four guild skills you should be able to be promoted to guild master by the npc alone. That's a lot of time to put in hours to master, and not only the cost to get some items for alchemy if you are not of the hunting age to get them from those areas.
many factors in game are not built around the current population, but are based upon how the population was years and years ago.

I agree that the current requirements are too much. I can see being promoted with 2 other guildmasters and re-promotion with 1 guildmaster. The whole point is to gain recognition by your peers and what not. That is well and good, but it most definitely needs to be scaled back to reflect the current population levels in the game.

At 8 ranks of potions you could do spirit defense potions, they are good for reps till rank 20. It's easy to get the holly and the boar tusks for the ingredients and I would donate my time to gather them. Also have lots of violet sapphires as well. I'll be in Ice Mule tonight and move any stored ingredients there to my locker in the Landing. If you need anything let me know.
