Disclaimer: Some of you may find this thread lacks a certain sensitivity. You have been warned, and if you complain about it, I shall pummel your anoos with the largest rubber fist I can find.
Alright... so a co-workers best friend died, and said co-worker refused to take the rest of the day off of work. They are not so desperately poor that a couple of hours off work would have hurt them, nor is their work particularly important, nor do they have unique skills that prevent others from doing their portion of the work.
It appears that she is a sympathy whore. (This is not a first time, this has happened before with her and other corpses.) I considered that perhaps she likes keeping busy so as not to think about the deceased, but in reality she spent the day in the back, crying. So basically, getting paid to cry at work all day and accomplish nothing. This irritates me.
Why does this irritate me? A number of reasons but mostly this: Death is all around us, and people die all the time. If it is a person that matters to you, go home and wallow in your grief. If they warrant your grief, I feel you should experience every ounce of that pain in an unaltered state, in their honor.
Unless they are the sort of "celebrate my life" person, then get hammered and pour one for the deceased as well. But for fuck sake, stop walking around going "why me", when you aren't the one who has died.
