I've been away for a long, long time. Heck, my last login to this site was in May of 2006 but I've come back to Elanthia to see what I can see.

I need to brush up on my Dhe'narsi, I think. *grin*

How is everyone?

Welcome back!

Thanks.

I think most of the people I used to RP most of the time with are gone, so I really don't know anyone in the game anymore. No sightings of Fisdan, Simmer, Blades, Melindeth, and I can't remember the names of the old (pre-Abbey) Coven members.

Soo.... are there any Dhe'nari social circles these days?

Not really that I've seen, no, the Dhe'nari are a pretty lost culture right now. Get it going, though, and shoot me a PM if you want more people to RP with.

Few people can RP true cruelty. *grin* Being a racist-ass Dhe'nar is a fine artform and often unappreciated by people that haven't tried to be good at it. Like Internet trolling. ;)

I was standing around in TSC on my empath watching people go by, getting a feel for Elanthia again, and I saw all these GOOFY looking Dhe'nar with "silky black hair" and "tanned skin" and NONSENSE like that. The old Dhe'nar would have had a field day.

This goofy guy in TSC the other day was asking me all about people who he hadn't seen in forever. You should talk to him, he might RP with you.

Wait a minute.....

You should go to TV, that's where all the one-dimensional "racist-ass" RP is going down these days.

If it were quality I'd actually consider it. :)

How goes, Ebondale? Evarin here. For GM-lead roleplaying, I would look to the Landing. The Landing has an invasion-heavy storyline involving a "summoner" able to flood the town with golems. For player-driven stuff, I would head to Ta'Vaalor. GMs do support the roleplay, but I don't think there are any A to B to C traditional storylines at work. Otherwise, your efforts will be spotty at best. There is roleplay in every town, but it can be cliqueish. What I CAN tell you is whatever you do, someone will find it dull, boring, stereotypical, etc etc. Same old same old.

What you fail to understand is that there is no quality RP taking place.

P.S. - I wish I was still playing because Dhe'nar always need killin'. The downside of this is that I often bit off more than I could chew... but it sure made things interesting.

Ebondale

@Evarin - Thanks for that! I've always preferred the landing if for no other reason than it has always been the one town I felt that I knew my way around in the best. The Elven Nations are "new to me" if they aren't new to the lands, anyway. :)

@Delias - lol Well, the downside to being "Mr. Unpopular" is that being Mr. Unpopular comes with a poor life expectancy. It's all just RP, though. I think (most) of the people that I've interacted with in that regard in the past understood that it's never something personal, just RP.

What you fail to understand is that there is no quality RP taking place.

Is there really so little quality RP taking place these days? I mean, I have a Platinum account, but I've always just preferred Prime.

Maybe it's just where I've been. Totally agree on the in game hatreds being in game, all in the spirit of good fun.

There's Rp but its spotty. There's no lack of people for youth RP with but you do have to get them to open up. The RP is ons of the reasons I enjoy GS...I'm playing Faen DE Wizard, giant Pal and human empath...I'll RP with you, LEts chat about the way they might interact and make our own story line

They made a Dhe'nar flag for language since you've been gone. I suppose you could still use Dhe'nar-si if you wanted, though.

The GMs actually did a good job IMO in explaining the language release. The language flag Dhe'nar-si is considered to be the common dialect, spoken in every day conversation. The player-written form of the language is the "high" tongue, usually reserved for rituals and ceremonies. The old, archaic "high" form of the player language (it was REALLY tedious) is still archiac. All in all, Dhe'nar culture (and its dwarven cultures) becoming an official had a lot of odd quirks in its implementation, but the language was done right.

Welcome back! Yeah, the Dhe'nar seem to have been wiped out by a vicious wave of poison sperm. Or something.

But there's RP everywhere that I've been lately, barring River's Rest and Icemule because I have no characters there at the moment. You just have to be extremely (EXTREMELY) patient to see it because it's not 24/7, or even every night. Unless you make it yourself, of course. There's at least four GM-run storylines that I know of going on in Landing, Solhaven, Ta'Illistim and Ta'Vaalor. One might be of interest to your character.

Edited to add, I think you'll be impressed with the current crop of GMs in general and the town gurus in particular. They've been very active in attempting to promote RP every little way they can and have met with a lot of success. It's not always RP I can involve my character in without feeling like a quest whore but the effort is there, heh.

So are you saying that these days I should probably not bother with speaking "high tongue" if I'm in SPEAK DHENAR mode, and just use the high tongue if I'm in a formal setting? I spoke "high tongue" to a player yesterday and they "brushed the dust off my shoulder" which may have been a bit OOC but had me laughing IRL.

Any tips on where I can find a sash or other Dhe'nari odds and ends to get started with these days? All my nice Dhe'nari alterations are on Plat, but Plat has like 18 people logged in sooooo.... nuts to that.

I made a new character so I don't just jump right in without recognizing all the changes to the game that have taken place. I had a few minutes to play this morning so I logged in at TSC and took a step east (I was planning to hunt rats) and some big fuggin' construct smushed me with like a 685 AS. Welcome to Gemstone, indeed.

I talk to Rob now and then, he's still @ Disney and doing well.

Beyond buying from other characters, nothing comes to mind. There is no Dark Elf settlement, let alone a Dhe'nari settlement where you can buy clothing or accessories. There is some talk of making a Dark Elf hang out in Ta'Illistim, but that is a ways off IMO, and I would certainly hope it doesn't cater to the Dhe'nar. All that touchy feely crap in the White City sets my teeth to grinding.

That's pretty much what I do with my dhe'nar. She tends not to bother speaking with anything non-elven anyway so it's either dhe'nar speak or elven with a smattering of high tongue thrown in for good measure. I've had some good RP in RR with her but lately it's been dead there so thinking of moving her back to Ta'Illistim.
