View Full Version : Couple of Pure Questions

I've been running around swinging a maul for the first 15 levels but looking at moving over to pure now. Skills seem pretty straight forward for what to do as a pure, except for if I should use a Shield and open hand or Runestaff. I have no experience with runestaves at all, is shield much stronger and worth it for the extra training points? If I go with shields I'm looking at something like this:

Does this seem about right? I took Wiz up to 13 just for Melgorehn's Aura and plan on leaving it there while pushing MnE to 425/430 by 25 and 30 and just keep moving MjE at 1x.

Also had a question about shields for Wizs. Should I go for a tower shield for the extra DS and range defenses? From what I've read on the differences between Medium Large and Tower is all about dodge skill, and if you don't train in dodge then you should grab a Tower. Is that correct?

Doing shield without brawl or some sort of weapon type wil totally pwn your physical DS.

Plus no wizard spells I know of get any benefit from having an open hand like smite/bane does for clerics so it's kind of a pointless build for a wizard.

I'd just go with a runestaff build. I don't know the formula but the more magical skills you train, the more DS you'll get with a runestaff.

One of the biggest benefits of shield/brawl for defense is you cannot be disarmed. Not important early levels, but pretty clutch later on.
